I feel this.
When I exited once I noticed it was at 20gb, but I usually don’t pay much attention to that. So it can definitely go higher. So how does this look like for players who have more then 16GB of Ram? Maybe the 10GBs are also just capped from your Ram maximum.
Idle RAM is idle.
The game hangs for like 5+ minutes trying to load a late game save because of this.Idle RAM is idle.
It's good to use fast available memory.
Idle ram is ram that can be used for something necessary. A software hogging ram just for the sake of it means that eventually your PC will just start using your drive for memory, which is not only slower, but reduces its lifespan, for no reason. This "unused ram is wasted ram" is probably the most damaging meme to ever spread in the software industry.Idle RAM is idle.

Remember that most players have either 8GB or 16GB. Only few % can afford 32 or 64 GB (source: Steam statistics for November).Isn't this why we buy RAM? To use it? If you're playing the game, what else do you need it for?
I don't think it is about not affording the extra 16GB which can be acquired at about the same cost as Vic 3, but rather people being told for years that more than 16 GB of RAM isn't necessary.Remember that most players have either 8GB or 16GB. Who said that? I have had 32GB for years now, even for work as a software engineer!I don't think it is about not affording the extra 16GB which can be acquired at about the same cost as Vic 3, but rather people being told for years that more than 16 GB of RAM isn't necessary.
Loading up a game is not "using RAM for the sake of it".Idle ram is ram that can be used for something necessary. Yes, they claim that it's to make things faster, but in practice it's the opposite. If I leave my browser open for several days, it hogs more and more ram, and at the same time it becomes increasingly slower. It's generally the same thing with games. It's just an excuse to avoid having to optimize things.Loading up a game is not "using RAM for the sake of it".
It's using RAM to have a better experience.
Do you drive, using only the first gear - just so you feel that you could always shift to the next one?
Why are CPU and RAM intense browsers so popular?
"The internet". That doesn't mean it's true, but it does affect people's choices. Just google something along the lines of "how much ram do I need" and you'll get hits even from 2022 saying 32GB is kind of overkill for most people/games. Go back 3-4 years and that was an even more common view. Even today kingston and crucial recommends 32GB for "high end gaming systems"/"high performance gaming", which is not something most people spec their computers for, even if they spend plenty of time playing games.Who said that? I have had 32GB for years now, even for work as a software engineer!
