That's a strange bug

On a more serious note, however, I think I am really bad. In 1836, as Austria, I invaded the Swiss, and got pwned.

I think that Italy forming is good, and therefore not a bug. What plauges me is that Scandinavia seems to form in all my games but one: the on where i were sweeden. Very irritating. (the danes would'nt bow to the all mighty swedes:()

Ah. You are'nt that bad, it might be tricky to get those divisons out of their mountains. just let them go to the plains of Italy and surround them there instead.

On a serious note, it's not "always". I've just had a game with Spain where France ended up annexing most of Two Sicilies and Italy never formed. I later came into possession of those provinces and released Two Sicilies as a satellite :)

the goal aimed for in beta testing is that when all the principal actors involved are AI-controlled, the historical result happens at least 51% of the time, and more than that, I think, is better (consider that the chance AI will take a B-option event is 5%, in theory the 'historic' choice is 95% of the time, so in a perfect modelling a 95% goal would be ideal, but that is too optimistic.)

People ranted that ITA and GER did not form often enough when the principals were AI controlled back in 1.03C, now they complain if it happens more often than not.

(Note scandinavia does tend to form a bit too often IMHO when all the principals are AI-controlled, so that is something to be looked at.)

I guess there is never a happy medium.

What I'd like to see happen is if a country is AI-controlled and there is no human interference, it goes the historical way 100% of the time.

I wouldn't. I would like to see more often a Carlist Spain. They get a much prettier flag :(

I have another question: Why does America always win the American Civil War? I mean, Mexico should definitely have a chance, along with Britain. It's just not right :(

Have you installed the 1.04780483996 patch with Hotfix ver.10b? That should give both Mexico and Britain a 49% each to win the civil war. One side effect of this is that Canada usually tries to invade southern Russia and ends up nuking the Himalayas, but that should be fixed in the upcoming ver.115a Hotfix. Hope that helps. If not, you may want to rollback to DirectX 13, or just reformat your harddrive.

Actualy, in my Russia game Mexico did well and fought back the USA, so by the time of the Civil War, Mexico had annexed Texas and kept their border with the USA intact - they had 2 wars both initiated by USA and both ending in the White Peace.
I figured that if Mexico was still in a good shape, it would take revenge upon USA for their prior agressions, so upon the start of USCW, I loaded as Mexico and DoWed USA...

The war was over by 1867 with USA giving up the Border States...

By 1890, USA was a bankrupt satellite of Russia :D

Happy 4'th of July!

Well, I always tough that the only way for preventing certain events to happen (Italy Unification, US Civil War among others) was a direct intervention by myself. And I can see no problems with that. :) But maybe that's just me.

As a popularly-unified Germany I attacked France while most of its army was in Russia for the Crimean war. This was 1.03 with VIP. I satelited France and the Italian unification war never occurred.

Indeed! Especially when trying to construct a good alternate history AAR, as you'd want changes to ripple out from the changes to your nation, not happening all over the place all the time...

Please believe me when I say that there are some of us out here who seriously do feel your pain and understand your frustration.

This is why I decided to work on computers for a living. I thought I would not have to DEAL WITH THE FOIBLES OF PEOPLE.

Boy! Was I wrong! However, now I have learned (somewhat) to appreciate the diversity of people, generally by gritting my teeth, but I do appreciate them. :p

Hang in there, partner.

I won the US Civil War as Mexico. Large swathes of western and southern American territory was a sweet, pointless prize.
