Hi

I thought i would try the "Create Public Works" decision which costs 6000. You do get a small amount of dissent reduction but i was expecting more than only +1 extra IC - seems like the money would have been FAR better spent on the research decision, or, am i missing something :)

Thanks

Depends on your country size. For a small country, + 1 IC together with all the modifiers for Effective IC is really useful, especially if you play til 1964 (which equals a gazillion of IC days). For larger countries who have already five tech-team slots and can't improve their research speed with IC anymore the research decision is obviously better, except when you need production more than research, e.g. as Germany.

Or if you want to get to max. central planning fast:
Each installment of Public Works gets you one slider move towards central planning and +5% IC for a mere 6000$ is quite nice.

True -- but it also disqualifies Public Works for any free market strategy.

thanks guys

played a bit longer and got 2 more events with dissent reduction (not needed which is an annoying waste) but also percentage increase in IC - 5% or 10% i think - which was nice

I would recommend, to add an similar descision, that adds 10% infrastructure in a random province. Would be able to take for planned and free economies. :)

Yes, please!

Which sounds rather logical :)

As I stated in another thread (yes, I'm quoting myself :p), I think that such decisions aren't well balanced. You can gain the same results also for FM countries including a FM move. It's just a matter of names, for a FM country it can be "lower taxes for industry", you gain less money in the short term but industries have more money for new employees, new machines and so on. This is only to show that, at least for me, it's not necessarily logical.

That's why I never choose the CP moving option, nor with CP countries. It has no sense to me as they are now.

Oops. Good suggestion then. :) But I think TC is more important than adding a few infras in a random province.

Yes but spend some thoughts on Russia or China. They have few provinces where you can build ic (lower than 40%) so an addition of intrastructure would make this decision for these countries more senseful. And: Countries with many 100% infrastructure profite fewer than the countries I named first.

EDIT: This is also a nice idea to show the building of the "Reichsautobahn"

Now that the research/infrastructure decisions are no longer the easy ways to max central planning, this ought to get a little boost. Maybe even just a single extra step on central planning, not all the way to the end. Also, the new tech spots really take a lot of the incentive out of the research choice.

I think at this point spying is vastly superior to any of the economic decisions as far as money goes. They are all underweight.

I thought taking the infrastructure decision did add infrastructure? Or is that just in Kaiserreich?

you may find it in :\Darkest Hour\Mods\Darkest Hour Full\db\events\generic_decisions.txt just start from line 1364 of this file or just find "Create Public Works".
BTW cost depends on how many base IC you have. If less than the cost is lower even 500 in some circumstances ;)
