Crusader Kings is the name because it takes place during the Crusades and it's catchy. Also most of the people buying it are whities so Jihad Sultans wouldn't be as popular. I think we should be able to play as everyone, EVEN THE POPE! YAH!
I wouldn't say they can't. Its just an elective monarchy. If they can make republics and theocracies they can make the Pope. The real problem, apparently, is all the money the Pope gets, and that he is prompted with hundreds of events a month about everyone single catholic holding. The Pope is essentially the game's Monopoly Banker or Dungeons and Dragons DM (at least for Catholics).Playing as the Pope would be incredibly cool, because he was the most important political actor in the Middle Ages. Kinda a pity that the game's mechanics can't represent it![]()
Uh, the majority of the "Jihad Sultans" are, in fact, white.

For the chicks, of course."Why do you want to play as republics and theocracies?"
The heritage found in many Middle Eastern countries (and Turkey) fall into the Caucasian race. The Iranian 'president' right now in modern times is both native to Iran and very aesthetically similar to Eastern Europeans.Uh...I don't think you know what "white" means.
And playing as a theocracy or republic, where succession is always elective and literally ANYBODY can be elected (I think this would result in Doges with very high diplomacy skills) isn't challenging?
Because a republic dlc would probably bring with it an economy/trade system and naval battles which would be great for mods.
A religious dlc would finaly make the ck2 gameplay of catholics complete, right now it's just a random guy becoming pope and not someone chosen by a college of cardenals.
