I personally think it is a stupid trait, and I see no idea in having it!
Were there really THAT many dwarves born in the Medieval Noble houses? It seems like every family has at least one!
It seems like "Game of Thrones" have had some influence on the game...

Cause that fact is, would it not be statistically correct that there would have been born just as many with Down-Syndrom, Authism, or who were Hermofrodites?
Yeah, I know that there could be traits for SO much, and of course only some have made in the end...
But could we not use that extra trait for something more descriping? A personality trait?

Don't know with you? But I am tired of seeing dwarves everywhere - when I get a new mayor someplace, BAM, he's a Dwarf! Councilmembers, Lieges, vassals, everywhere...

It's not that I HATE dwarves IRL, but I cant see the idea of having dwarves in this game, when they clearly are so Overnumbered...

I think having the trait should limit a character to how high a position they can achieve, so dwarf characters should not realistically be allowed to become King of England.

I've never heard of any Counts or Dukes with Dwarfism in history?

The one thing I would like to see, is when a character be born a dwarf, that they actually have the facial appearance of one (think Peter Dinklage) and not that of a normally developed individual.

Ive never seen an overabundance of dwarves in any of my games, except for one where i deliberatly kept a dwarf farm in my court, and in my most recent game where ive kept my dwarf geniuses as rulers of my kingdom of serbia for 200 years :).
Also there is a trait for autism, downs and what not, its called imbecile. It might not be political correct but thats what mentally retarded people where considered as in that era and all the way up to the 20'th century. (In sweden where i come from any mental retarded person was simply refered to as an idiot up until like the 50's or something)

But your alright with the overpopulation of quick, genius, strong and attractive people?

You can not have one without the other. It is called balance.

Well, if we aimed for balance, then all kinds of minoritetes would be in game... From-eyed people, to left-handed people, to people with allergies!
With the other traits, genius, strong, weak, slow and all that - we at least get something to work with - personality!
But I dont think a trait like Dwarf,or attractive and ugly should be in the game... It is just stupid in my eyes...
With SO many dwarves, it is not balanced... The trait Tall has also been taken away, so actually, the most balanced thing to do, would to move the opposite trait dwarf!
You cannot compare a quick, imbecile or handsome person with a Dwarf, as they have nothing to do with each other!

Cause speaking of Ugly and attractive, isn' it obvious for us, if someone looks good, or is but-ugly! It is weird to work with a handsome guy or girl, with the trait ugly, when they clearly are not!

But your alright with the overpopulation of quick, genius, strong and attractive people?

You can not have one without the other. It is called balance.

1 person out of 50 qualifies for MENSA, 1 out of 25000 is a dwarf. The problem with quick and genius (if there is one) is that it's too strong. As for strong and attractive: strong is very relative and attractive... just take a look around you workplace/school/whatever and count how many attractive people are there. Unless you're very picky that's going to be way more than 1 in 25000.

I think having the trait should limit a character to how high a position they can achieve, so dwarf characters should not realistically be allowed to become King of England.

I, for one, see no problem with the number of dwarves n the game. Most of the time there's none of them in my realm and very few in other nations.

Yeah, there is no difference beetwen modern times and medieval. : D

And Wladislav the Elbow-high wasn't dwarf, just low. You know, Edward I Longshanks wasn't giant.

One time I didn't pay enough attention to my bride's traits and ended up with 4 generations of dwarf rulers.

Not really a pro or anti-dwarf observation, just thought it was an amusing story.

I approve of anything that adds color to the game. I'm creating alternate history.

I also don't see that many dwarves. I personally don't believe how somebody could want traits removed and not more added.

Anyways, I just wanted to say this because I found it funking hilarious. That new battle event where it say's "Your men were able to corner Person X and slaughter him. The first time this happened to me I clicked onto the person to see if he had any good military stats."

Lo and behold the first stat I notice is Dwarf, which made me instantly picture a dwarf on a battlefield in full armor and everything getting cornered by 20 guys. Damn near fell out of my chair laughing.

Which is why Mensa is a joke.

True Geniuses are not massively common. Strong trait has little to do with physical strength. Attractive is meant to mean that one person who looks good to everyone regardless.

By balance I was talking about how many strong, genius, quick and attractive rulers do you see? How many Dwarves? Guarantee you that there aremore rulers with the genius trait in 50 years of the game, then there was in a 500 year span in history. To balance this they had to inject negative traits. Its either you have genetic traits or you don't. The devs wanted to, so these are what they added.

Why do we have these dwarves?

Because of the Beard Designer...

Oh, and Snow White...

I think my next game I will start off as a dwarf and see how long i can keep that family with that trait.

How about a 50% bonus to stone building speed if you have the dwarf trait? *place tin-foil hat on head*

That's a personal interpretation, not an objective one. Basically you say that a genius, strong or attractive character is virtue personified: and absolute genius, a strongmen that bends horseshoes with one hand and a beauty that launched a 1000 ships. That's a very strange view, and doubtfully the one the developers had in mind. I would even question that your "person who looks good to everyone regardless" exists anywhere beside myths and legends.

By balance I was talking about how many strong, genius, quick and attractive rulers do you see?
Too many, yes, but not because of their abundance, but because geniuses and attractive characters have way too strong bonuses. Bonuses that make it easy for them to plot, conduct diplomacy and even wage war (for one thing being attractive can give you larger levies from opposite-sex vassals).
Guarantee you that there aremore rulers with the genius trait in 50 years of the game, then there was in a 500 year span in history.
By standards proposed that's always true, as there were 0 "truly" genius leaders (and perhaps hominids at all) in history. By my standards there wouldn't be that big a differens (3-4 times more in the game, perhaps). Still too much for my taste, but not anything to worry about.

It seems pretty balanced to me, I'd argue there are way too many geniouses around.
I'd also argue why in my latest game I marry geniouses and all I get is ugly/imbecile sons and attractive/genious daughters.

I, for one, see no problem with the number of dwarves n the game. Most of the time there's none of them in my realm and very few in other nations.

It sounds like Wladislav was extremely short, but there's a different in being small in height and having dwarfism. I don't think there's ever been a king, especially in times where strong rulers were needed to keep rivals in check, who was a dwarf. I imagine being a dwarf and trying to command respect as a king would have been nearly impossible back in the medieval age.

If anything it should exclude characters from becoming the Byzantine Emperors, seeing as how multilations were done to disallow people from claiming the throne, then I would imagine dwarfism would have been deemed by them as meaning they were imperfect physically, and therefore not eligible for the throne.
