Hello everyone

I am playing as Greece, and noticed this situation

a. I am domestically producing less liquor than I need
b. My pops HAVE the money to purchase it, since -according to the trade screen- it is imported.
c. I have a liquor factory, that CANNOT sell all that it produces.

I suspect that the problem is that I belong in the UK sphere of influence, and so the first place that the pops go to buy goods is the total sphere's market (and not the local shops), and then the world market.

Am I correct?

" Why do they prefer the imported wine? "

because local wine is trash, of course

Aren't you aware how much richer is French or Portuguese wine? :D

UK sphere

That's your problem, yes. Well at least I think.

You can take revenge by annexing China and flooding their markets with Artisan made products. :D

So, I am playing as Italy and I am producing around 200 fish (per day I guess?). Fish is a high demand good. I have a canned food factory which is doing terribly, since it hasn't access to fish (it needs like 3 fish per day). What. the. .... Shouldn't my production be focused towards my domestic needs first before going to the global market? I am not under any influence. Anything I can do (other than increasing my prestige)?

I do not know the order of buy, but maybe your POPs/sphere (?) are snatching all the fish before your factory is able to buy some? Are your POPs eating fish?

The problem of Vicky is now that you don't have the "allow pops/factories buy from national stockpile" button anymore. Back in Vanilla Vicky things at least almost worked with it but now it's rather ridiculous.

The thing is: It doesn't matter do you produce the wine or does someone else produce it. All of it is taken to the global market from where you will buy the wine you just made. Friggin' logical eh? The whole trade system seems to be less or more crippled by the logic.
Therefore it is actually possible that all the wine you produce will be bought by your enemies to build cavalry units and you get none while trying to do the same...

There is your problem! You should be making olive oil, not wine!

Actually, producing olive oil in Greece is not profitable. Too much competition leads to extremely low prices for farmers.

Believe it or not, wine is one of our products that has actually managed to find its way to world markets. One of our most successful wine industrialists, Mpoutaris, has actually managed to get elected as mayor in Thessaloniki, our second largest city. It is extremely rare for Greeks to vote a "capitalist" into office. We prefer supporting lazy civil sector unionists, ultra-right bigots, stalin-lovers and corrupt populists, so he is an exemption. ;)

Anyway, I thank you all for your answers. Next time I will avoid investing in products that are provided in excess within my master's sphere of influence.

No it's a only a problem when you're in a sphere which is supposed to be a problem. When you're not in a sphere, the wine you produce is bought locally before going on the world market.

Apart from the whole way it did bizarre things to the prices of goods.

Believe it or not, wine is one of our products that has actually managed to find its way to world markets.
I find that perfectly believable; I'm rather fond of Mavrodaphne myself.
