In two of the PDX games I've played (EU4 and Stellaris) for some bizarre reason I cannot fathom, the save game transfers take forever.

E.g. one game of EU4, the save was 25MB. No way should that take in excess of 3 minutes to transfer to someone.

In checking my network activity, to transmit such a file to 5 people, it was taking 800kbps (kilobits, not kilobytes) which is approx 100kb/s.

I'd like to ask why is it so slow, and if there's any solutions?

Right but my internet can handle up to 10mbit / 1250KB/s, which is far faster than what's actually being used.

Only in paradox games I'm seeing extremely slow speeds. It's actually faster to download the save file via the host sharing it via Dropbox than it is to actually send it via the game. It makes absolutely no sense.

I do the same thing as you- early on it's not terrible just to let it transfer the regular way, but as the save file gets larger you're far better off just putting the file on a Cloud storage service like Google Drive or Dropbox. Once your partner(s) put the file into their own save game folder, it's instant for the file to transfer.

Why it takes so long though I don't know- it isn't like the files are that big, but it's basically present in all the modern Paradox games with Steam multiplayer.
