Why do people who I asked to follow me just wander away?

I'm trying to siege some cities and have insufficient troops to do it myself, but despite being the marshal and despite having called for a campaign, nobody is following me. So, I go grab a guy and tell him to follow me, but he won't stay following me for long enough for siege towers to build; he just leaves.

So...how to make guys help me siege?

Also, I would have posted this in the support forum, but I bought the game on Steam and therefore will probably never have access to that forum!

Are you talking about WFAS, or Warband? Assuming it's Warband, and/or WFAS mechanics are the same or similar. Your allies may be abandoning you because they have pressing matters elsewhere, such as their lands are being attacked or they need to replenish their armies.

Lords have various duties to perform, for most of them only pseudo behaviours so far, and depending on their personality, grows tired of war faster or slowlier.

When asking them what they think of the ongoing war, they will tell if they are displeased with being hold to military duty for too long.

This aspect of the game is still a stub as the environment support to their behaviour is not yet developped enough to give.

One can rely on pitiless, martial lords but the best is to muster enough lords to cope with lords taking their freedom now and then.
