I was smoking crack and scripted events for a few countries giving them cash every year. Took many hours and much boredom. So when I test this stuff out it works funky. Like there is an event (series) to give England 500d a year on Jan. 2 of each year. No offset is in there. But when I start up a senario with England on Jan 2 I get the event a few different times. Sometimes three times, sometimes other numbers. The problem isn't with my events. It is just something funky going on. What gives?

Other countries get cash each year. I get a message they are getting it. Yet some countries get their cash based on their capitol. Like the owner of Moscow gets 500d a year. But I get no message that Russia is getting an event. They still are right? I mean, I get it if I am them, but I am worried that the AI isn't getting their money.

Will having like 2000 events affect my game performance? I had a very very rare CTD with my events and this worries me.

This has been a godawful day. I can't believe I just did all this crap. My nerves are definetely frayed. I'm in the process of getting drunk right now.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

I think I found out part of my problem. My tag isn't specific and my events are occuring throughout the world. I wrote events for Spain and russia that give them 500d a yearjust about every year. To get past the country named changes I put in province = 263 or something like it says I can do in the Harvard bible. But it dont work!!!!!! This is supposed to make it so only the owner of 263 gets my magic but it seems it isnt' like this. I have like almost 800 events that need to be fixed. Today couldn't have gone worse with a cancer diagnosis i ll tell you that right now. I guess this says all you need to know, a guy from Harvaard writes a bible and it leaves you withering on the rocks. From now on I will never trust another bible besides the one of Matthew Mark Luke and John again. I have seen the light, and all i can say is it isn't shining from boston.

Well, his name is Havard, not Harvard. I think he's a Scandinavian or something. :)

Events that have a trigger based on owning a province work. I've written many. Why don't you post your event so we can take a look at it?

Ok im a little intoxicated so if im wrong im sorry. I figured a trigger would work but in the bible of scripting it seems to mean that writing "province = 270" or whatever can specify instead of a country tag. my events had no trigger at all because countries were just getting cash every year. for russia i did province =270 because of the country changing. figured moscow was good enough for somebody to be russia. same went for spain. when i tested my first few events i only used those countries, like i tried spain, they got their money, and i figured cool it works. so I made 800 events like this. only then did i realize that the province = 270 was worthless and every country got the free cash. i just read what i wrote and am not sure it is clear. i just changed all of my events though.

so now i was ready to go again and i notice some of my events dont happen. most do but some dont. like in age of exploration england doesn't get its money event though all others do. cant see why.
in 1700 now spain doesn't get theirs and the others do, even england. dont know why. i look but cannot see. pain in the ass. should have been more careful testing. i have 2000 buggy events to sort through now. and im drunk. this is going to take a while and i have to be at work in 5 hours. bad day tomorrow.

Gee, who others have written a bible for event scripting? ;)

I'm not from Harvard (my name is Håvard), and have never been in Boston. Closest I have ever been to Boston is drinking Samuel Adams beer :D

It appears to be a problem with the province-trigger. I have seen others mention similar problems. A note on that is sceduled for the 1.03 edition of the EBoES. It looks as if you are creating events for specific countries, so I suggest you use the country-trigger.

Oh, and I trust "my" bible more than that "other" bible ;)

DEBUGGED!!!!!!!
(i think)

This was my first try at scripting. Got some stuff going on now. Wasted a day though. Check this out, it should toughen the game up a bit (designed for game with HAB):

fixed Dutch independence event problems

give Ottomans 700d every Jan. 2 after they take Thrace (fall of Byz will cause consternation as it marks unleashing of Muslim menace--I don't plan to try and save Byz btw)

give France and Castille (later Spain) 500d a year starting in 1419 (Castille will become Spain for sure in 1477)

England will get 500d a year starting in 1435 (hopefully enough time for France to push them most of the way out of France)

Sweden and Russia get 500d a year starting in 1426 (want to end up with a Nordic menace, picked Sweden over Denmark to maybe save some of the northern HRE and confront Russia) may push date back, Muscovy will become russia in 1520 for sure

Poland annexing Lithuania will occur for sure on Jan. 5, 1419. Maybe this will beefen them up a bit, and with Sweden, Russia, Ottomans, and me nearby probably will have trouble lasting the game

Will give myself house rules to never force annex a Catholic country or take territory from them in offensive fashion or exploit game engine, also no colonizing

may add some other things like giving Portugal 100d a year, maybe Venice and Bohemia a little too, will probable give Holland like 250 a year and may give Poland 50 a year if they are getting taken apart too quick

HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sam Adams beer has never been anywhere near Boston, unless it's been shipped through there on its way to Norway and Havard's mouth. Sam Adams is brewed right here in Cincinnati - I used to work only a few blocks away from the brewery...

Really? How come they have address in Boston then? (I quote "Our brewery is located in the Jamaica Plain area of Boston, Massachusetts.")

I haven't seen it in Norway though... I have been to the US a few times, but never in Boston (changed planes at Kennedy once, probably the closest geographiclly)

I thought you could pay alot of money for an unsatisfying Sam Adams brewery tour in Boston.

Kinda like touring the Guinness brewery in Dublin, which has to be the biggest waste of money ever. You pay like 6 pounds to see recreations of brewing equipment in one room and a boring film in the next. Then you get a free .5 pint of Guinness, which would have cost you like a third as much to buy in the first place (sorry if my numbers are off, it's been a while).

The *plus* side is all these families go through and don't use their free drink cards because they think Guinness tastes foul. They'll happily give their free drinks to any group of males who seem to be enjoying Guinness (maybe females too, I don't know, I haven't seen any enjoying Guinness yet). You can pass a lucrative day there...
