Why did my son's widow remarry without my permission?

I'm king of Germany. Had a nice son who was newly married to a perfect match. 2 kids come quickly, everything is good. Then my son dies in battle. The widow still pregnant with kid number 2. I continue the war only to discover by accident that the widow has married a man in a distant province outside of my area AND taken the 2 kids with her (with the bloodline symbol).

I thought the kids would stay in my court for sure!? And I must admit that I - perhaps naively - thought that the widow would only be able to marry again with my permission??

Am I completely wrong here? I need the 2 kids! And the widow herself had excellent stats which would be nice to have in my court as well.

She's not a member of your dynasty so she can remarry as she wills.

Having those two boys in a foreign court might turn out to be a good thing. It happened to me as King of England when some of my family went to France. The French King started turning them into Dukes in a few years!!!:rofl:

Females never marry out of their own. Only their liege can arrange a marriage for them, so in this case your son's widow was most likely not in your court.

Children (under 16) always go where there mother is.

I have Deus Vult, bought it as a complete package.

What Veldmaarschalk says is exactly what I seemed to remember from the first time I played this game. That's why I'm confused. However there is absolutely no doubt at all....the wife came to my court when she married my son. I hadn't given him his own title yet, put him to use as an advisor. The wife I didn't use as an advisor since I had 2 cases where a wife got stressed when working as an advisor. I didn't want that to happen I wanted kids first. So while they're in my court they have the first kid and the second one is on the way. Big war breaks out (I knew the untrustworthy a**hole Duke of Sachsen would try that) so I get busy fighting. Son gets killed. Next time I check his wife is in a foreign court. I did NOT click "Yes let her marry". I actually got a box on the screen where an english count wanted to marry, but I clicked NO. I did not see any other box.

So have I accidently clicked such a box without even noticing? I admit that it has happened in the past with other boxes. Sometimes a kazillion things happen in one second and oops... :wacko: But I feel quite sure I didn't. I pause the game and read before clicking.


PS: Will my laws have any impact at all in this case? I ask because this game is my first with a different law than the one I always played with.

Isn't it possible for unmarried countriers to spontaneously move back to their own dynasty's court? I have a vague recollection of this happening to me from time to time.

Well I used the console and killed her new husband. After that she returned to her original home court and the 2 kids came to my court.

Actually I just noticed that a male courtier in my court has married without my influence. So it seems I don't have a say? Could it be my laws causing this?

No ... courtiers will never marry on their own

He probably migrated from another court with his wife.

Now I have a 16 year old girl in my court (daughter of a long time courtier). She just finished her education and is ready for marriage. So I should now be able to control her marriage/find a husband for her? It would be nice to have this confirmed because I can't do anything with her. I still have the message that a girl is ready for marriage, but that regards my daughter. It seems people outside of my family I can't control?

Can it be that I have a bug in the game?

You cannot control non-family members (alas), this hasn't been possible since one of the earlier patches for the original CK.
You might however still get requests from other courts for her hand in marriage, since you are her sovereign.
