Hi!

My first post on the Paradox forums! :D

I've been following the making of Crusader Kings 2 and now when I've tried the demo I've fallen in love with the game.
The biggest appeal is that it's character driven.

I enjoy the demo and keep coming back to it every evening. Can't wait until next week!

So I've seen people dying and they get a nice message but something I'd really like to know is why they died.
I can guess that someone out leading a war died in battle but I'd like to know if that's really what happened and how it happened.
An arrow to the head? A skillful assassination in the night? Horse fell on him?
Would add alot I think.

I also managed to get imprisoned by my king one time, right out of the blue.
I would have liked to know why? What I had done or not done? Or what false accusation he had come up with.

So those two are the biggest things I've felt missing in what is a great game.

Looking forward to be a part of this community! Watch out for coming AARs. :)

Welcome on the forums!

It would be nice to get an indication how a person died in battle for flavor. However as you already stated a few options one can use your own imagination :)

On the imprisonment i am not sure how it works iirc when you dont have a good enough reason to imprison someone ppl will look upon you with more disdain than when there is a good reason. Did he hate you? Got a claim on your title? both? the manual is out so that would give you some clues.

Of course, the imagination is great for such things. :)

But I'd like to be able to hover over someones skull icon and see "Died of the plague" or "Died in prison" or "Died from an arrow to the knee". So that it's recorded.

As far as I could tell I was on good terms with the king. The only reason I can think of is that he didn't like that I had a claim to one of his counties, which I got before
he conquered the said county and it become the kings. But again, who knows what others might be scheming. ^^
But someone kind of accusation would be nice, false or true.

As I recall, it does say "died in prison" if they did or were executed. My Duke of Bohemia was randomly accused by another vassal of rape, apparently, and the Holy Roman Emperor threw him in prison without further ado. His most loyal vassal! Without even bothering with an investigation. Sickening, really :glare:

A better reason than your are just a count and im your king would be nice, unless its in the kings nature... Let's hope it's a bit like that and not every time no matter who.

Yes it would be nice to have some hint on how someone died, the way you discribe it doesn't sound too hard to implement.

"Died from an arrow to the knee"

I knew this joke would be made! :-D

The reason of death thingy is not so important to me. As long as the guy's dead, right? But I would like to know why I am imprisoned. As I player, I know why I imprison guys myself, but I don't know when the AI imprisons others...

Why people die is usually not hard to extrapolate. I look at the rank of the person, the traits he had at the end of his life and how old he got.

A courtier, that lived to the age of 29 and had consumption as a trait, probably died because of it, whereas a young adult count with no illness traits, probably died in battle, or maybe by assassination.

Sometimes it;s hard to be a 100% sure, but often you can narrow it down.

I would like an idication of why someone died in the character page as well.
