Why CO is still supporting the "Scrappy-Doo"

i like the idea of chirpy as a modern information bar. its something different from the old message logs we get from eu4 and the likes. i also think it fits well with the game. now all they need to do is increase the variety of the messages and the minimum at when they spawn so we don't get a to many corpses message when there's just one corpse waiting for pickup (for example).

It's the reason I haven't registered my game. Silent protest. Slightly not-quite-so-silent now, I suppose. ^^

well yea that's the thing. All the information it was giving me was vague and absolutely useless crap that I already knew anyways. I don't see how anyone could be bothered to read the dozens of messages it sends out every few minutes. It ruins the experience for me.

OP is asking to get rid of the only identity this game actually has.
I'm not saying chirper is fantastic, i've got a few issues with the bird myself..., but remove it and you're left with a CitiesXL-style game that would just be soul-less clone of a game with no character in it at all.
All great games have characters and mascots to spice up the experience
-Simcity had wacky advisors
-Portal had companion cube
-Europa universalis has ... comet sighting (could be better,... but it's something atleast)
-Total war has impossibru samurai
-Skyrim has arrow-to-the-knee guards
...
