Actually, Charlemagne was Munzetian, his true name was Rloka Likive (in some instances Kaparlopa Vepelipikipi), he lead the great armies of Munze in a fight to destroy the Germans and Croats. He invented the great languages known as troša and patro, and wrote the Tasve Gaknji Munaze/Svepetapa Knjipigapa Zepemupunapa.

Paradox has bigger fish to cry than this...I agree the DLC name is a bit silly named. Carolus Magnus or "Age of Charlemagne" might sound better.

In real life "Charlemagne" was Finnish, his real name is "Kaarle Suuri", and he defeated the Norwegians who tried to invade Finland.

Nope. Frankish was a Germanic language. And Dutch was a dialect of it. The Romance language in France take loan words from Frankish. And maybe there were some Romance loanwords in Frankish too... But I don't think it was a mixture between both (like English today). It was our AND their king.

ahem... those silly French and Germans ;), they always seem to forget the Belgians and the Dutch (and Luxembourg too), he was our king too :). Instead of Charles or Karl, you might as well call him Karel ((modern) Dutch). He seem to have been from the area Aachen-Liège-Maastricht.

Well, at least there is 1 thing, just 1, that we and everyone else agree on: Charlemagne, whatever his nationality happened to be, definitely existed.

Oh wait...

I'm pretty sure his name was Karolo Mkuu and he spoke Swahili. So that's it, guys: he was black just like Jesus, Beethoven and Cleopatra.

They probably chose Charlemagne because the broad audience only knows him by that name. It took until i got to college to even hear Charles the Great or Karl, then digging into myself that I found any of the other names.

Just think, would the average gamer who has never played CK2 be persuaded to check out "Karl the Great?" Would they even know what that was referencing? Calling him Karl in game is another story. When you play him in game, he should definitely be Karl since he would not have fulfilled the Exalted Among Men ambition to be called "the Great" yet.

That may be right but you said:

They did not pass the title "King of the Franks" to Charles Martel.

Yeah right. "pass'' was a wrong maner of speaking. But anyway it is the same title they both have. Pepin von Herstall as well as Charles the Hammer was a duke (or magister palatii) in the Kingdom of the Merovingian Franks.
