Why can't we automate armies?

I think Europa Universalis is a very exceptional game and I enjoy every part of the game except one portion. Late game army management. Having 10+ armies all with 60k troops+ is just tedious and annoying to manage. So annoying in fact That I just end up splitting my lands into 8+ vassals that make and manage my armies for me. This currently is the only way to automate late-game wars. You can tell your navies to auto patrol waters and do a myriad of tasks automatically. Same with army rebel suppression. This shows that automating your armies is already in the game and shouldn't be that hard to integrate. This one part of the game is in my opinion the final piece of the puzzle needed to perfect the game in my eyes. Peoples thoughts?

I 100% agree! We should be able to give our armies a stance much like we can to vassals, and they will operate on their own.
