Why can't Paradox create a war mode/combat mechanic for its games that doesn't suck?

But Warfare is all about Economics.

You can have the greatest natural talent for killing enemies that exists, and the largest manpower pool to draw from, but if you cannot A) Feed your Army, B) Supply them with Weapons, C) Pay them.
Then you do not have an army to fight with.

Then there is logistics getting the right force to the right place to win the battle before it begins.
These are what PDS games simulate, not the actual battlefield tactics. There are games that specialize in that area, but PDS tends to be about the Grand Strategy.

Eh, it's not their core competency so I don't mind. I'd rather them focus on what they're good at. If I want combat, I'll go play Total War or something.

While playing those type of games, can be fun, the battles they depict are more in the nature of an arcade game than an accurate battle simulator.

I think the CK2 combat mechanics serve the game quite well.
It simulates tactics and takes commanders into account without relying too much on random dice rolls. I'd really like to see more of that in future Pdox games (sad EU4 didn't get a significantly updated combat mechanic. :()
