Why cant I use Elective Monarchy to elect one of my (five) daughters?

I only have one King title (Italy), I'm female, Im married to the duke of Kent (that has no liege) and I cannot nominate any of my daughters despite the fact that I can nominate several unlanded nieces and even a female that isnt my dynasty.

I thought I understood how Elective Monarchy works but I'll admit its been several expansions since I played the game so maybe some things have changed.

i've noticed a few menus like this get buggy, have you tried a save and reload? that works sometimes.

Can your husband (duke of Kent) be nominated?

Not sure but in my game, it seems my nomination cannot bypass the parents (husband / wife included if they are one of the candidates) and just nominate their (my) children.

it's about the duke or the king title?
if it is about the title of kent,
- then the default is "agnatic" and u cant change this by your own.
and
- Matrilineal offspring isn't available for election.

workaround, if u married to a dynastie member.
choose as heir your wife and then u are able to choose the offspring.

I remember reading about a Bug with electiv succsession, where you cannot nominate your children who are heirs to your husbands/wifes titles.
perhaps try killing you husband first and nominate the girl who inherits his titles.

if it is a bug it would be great to fix this, then i always run into this problem,
when i merge bloodlines into the main branch of my dynasty.
in the early game before i switch to primogeniture.

Does absolute cognatic elective and agnatic-cognatic elective have a difference?

It is a bug, this happened twice to me, one of those times I reloaded and it worked, the other was a mp game as Lombardy and I was unable to elect any of my children and only some vassals, my husband and some really godawful cousin. I almost always go for elective and it really bugs me that it's currently a mess.

That might be the case, altough I never checked if my kids were heirs to something else, but that might very well be the cause.

Does absolute cognatic elective and agnatic-cognatic elective have a difference?

Yes! In agnatic-cognatic electors get a -25 (I think?) likeness of the candidate as long as it is female called something with tradition. This doesn't appear in absolute cognatic.

They still haven’t fixed this?! It sucks, I’m a nice guy and make sure my vassals like me, so I always go elect, but it’s just not worth it atm

This especially sucks in mp or ironman (I barely play normal) as you can't just load if you switch succession law and realize the only electable dynasty member is your childless 60-year old terrible uncle.

Just to add on to this. To get around it I set my wife up to be up for election, should I pass. Well, she died later of some sudden illness and as soon as that happened I was able to vote for one of my two sons. They were her biological kids so I'm not sure what the deal was there. They were heirs to my titles and she wasn't landed so.... I'm not sure why this would have worked.

I have tried saving and quitting and restarting, no luck. We were coming from gavelkind succession if that makes any difference.

I'm playing Ironman as well, its definitely scary when you realize you might be screwed

I have another fine example of elective not working. My ruler can elect 7 of his 8 childeren, a few siblings and about 20 distant relatives. Both male and female.

But not my genius son who is matrilineair engaged to a distant relative, combining about 7 bloodlines and giving me the 5 bloodline achievement hopefully. This sucks, fix it plz.

And the weird part is that he was, for a time, the chosen heir of my brother. So I figured maybe that’s why I can’t pick him. But he isn’t anymore and still doesn’t show up in my list. So I figure I’ll land him with a kingdom but I can only grant him a county and not even all of my county’s, I can only select from a few county’s from my own demesne.

So that was ragequit and hopefully it will be fixed with reloading.

Your matrilinear son cannot produce heirs of your dynasty. Is he your dynasty at all?

He is of my dynasty, but might be from a matrilinear marriage, I’m not sure. I will check on that tonight to see if that could be the reason he is not in line to get the throne.

I’ve been interbreeding a lot to get all the bloodlines in. The heir that I want, but can’t pick, is from my dynasty, as is his mother and his fiancee.

Edit: He is from a matrilineal marriage. And his brother and sister from the same mother aren’t electible either. His mother, my wife, is. Can’t imagine this is WAD. She doesn’t even have a claim to one of my titles.
We know what to do then. I have to kill her. Nothing else to it. Weird game

They have said they know of this bug, but I have not heard anything about it since.

Good thing is, they called it a bug. Now I wish they got on with fixing it.
