well jokes aside I must say HRE is questionable because on paper holy roman emperor was still holding entire Empire as his own... ON PAPER I remind you

That's not the Holy Roman Empire; that is the land ruled directly by the Habsburg dynasty during the reign of Charles V, whose power derived infinitely more from those holdings than his position as Emperor.

I've come to the point now that I just gave up on trying to control the border gore in game.

Fine, if you *really* want that county over in Sweden as part of your Cornwall duchy go for it, just don't get too powerful or I'll imprison, revoke and redistribute.

According to people here it was common for lords to have a county in Scotland and Another in africa though. Guess people needed to get away during winter times back then too. xD

The eyes of the realm... You must be fun at parties. :( Internal border gore is annoying, there needs to be ways to fix it. In real life people would generally hold lands in the same general area. Not own a small county on the other side of the world. For purely logistical reasons. There was never any case of someone owning a duchy in Northern England and then owning a duchy down in Spain too. It should if anything be harder to defend land that is very far away from your own and the AI with their main holdings close by should be much more prone to reclaim said land. There should also be "plots" where you can tell the vassal you will support him in such a war by asking the other ruler to stand down. Right now they very very rarely actually reclaim land they lost through inheritance, the AI should be much more prone to reclaim their de jure lands then they are at the moment. De jure and de jure shifting needs to be a much more central part of the game.

Ehem... did yoz look at the vassals of the HRE? I just tell you... you are absolutelly wrong. Best exemple... the counts of Straubing-Holland:
Yes he controlled Holland, Friesland, Hennegau and Straubing in Bavaria,.

When England ruled most of France, it was very common for English and French nobles to own land on both sides of the Channel. In fact this was specifically encouraged in order that as much of the ruling class as possible had a vested interest in keeping the realm united.

We could go on forever about the border gore of the Holy Roman Empire but I think we get the point already.
As long as the point understood is that border gore, especially of vassals, is 100% historical and trying to get rid of it is ahistorical, yes, the point is gotten.

But every time people use history to prove that getting rid of border gore is a good thing? Nope, we gotta go through the lesson again.

It's not history. It's aesthetics. It's all right, but it's important to admit the real reason why someone might not like border gore.

I only see western european examples but I wonder if the muslim and indian world also had this patchwork of vassal states(or were they all govenors, viceroys in the game)

While you should receive a -200 Murdered close kin opinion modifier (ie in the eyes of that particular character who murdered your daughter you should show up as having -100 opinion, if not, its a bug) freely taking revenge of such plotters IS tyrannical.

While there were many versions of "feudalism", the backbone of the whole thing was the liege-vassal relationship. The liege protected the vassal from ANY outside influence INCLUDING the liege of the liege in return for the services of the vassal. By right (although the exact laws were wildly different region-by-region) a king could not punish the vassal of his duke. It was the duke's responsibility to mete out punishment for the crimes of their vassals. Of course in case of high treason the duke woudn't object, but in theory they could stand up against their liege to protect the treasonous vassal.

But then this is a game :) Think of it as a feature not a bug, makes gameplay exactly the big craziness that we all cherish in CK2

As for your regent, he was just doing his job in the eyes of the realm.

I don't know. There are a number of cases where a regent does really screw you over. Maybe it could be an event or plot that you can gather or fabricate evidence to be able to imprison your regent. Then again, if your regent has your lands given to him and his family when you clearly have family that could have managed it he did overstep his bounds.

I agree certain cases are within the rules/laws and could not be considered criminal or unlawful.

Some cases are though. As I mentioned earlier in this thread I experienced a count kidnapped and castrated my character, the count’s lawful king and liege. Also, when some count or duke plots to kill my character’s daughter, the daughter of his lawful king and liege, and succeeds and is discovered, it should lead to some ground for repercussions (and I’m not talking about daughter as spymaster here).

Right now anyone can kill my family, be discovered and then nothing
