I can't elect my feudal, duke son; or my feudal count son in elective succession. I could only elect my brother, who had three counties; and then my nephews with county each after he died. I changed to Agnatic-Cognatic, and now my Duke son, who is the only Duke (and elector) in my Kingdom is voting for his mother, instead of himself. Both sons own a city, but it is not their main title. They are still feudal. Other than the city, they were identical in every way to the nephews I COULD elect.

I can't see any legitimate reason they shouldn't be able to be elected, so is this a bug? I'm playing my first ironman, so really not keen to ruin it because the game is bugging

ETA: I can now elect their sons/my grandons, whom are not in my court. I made my Duke son get rid of his city. STILL can't elect him.

Hard to tell with the tooltip covering his traits, but is your son a lunatic?

I think this might disqualify him from succession.

He is - but his brother wasn't, and he wasn't available either. My character died, and the grandson was elected. Suddenly I could elect my ex-son/current uncle.

... or Celibate? ... or Eunuch?

Nope.

Is he a De Jure Duke of the Kingdom?

Also might be a bug or wait for the monthly tick to reset that he is "feudal"...

Titular title, and it was the only Duchy I owned before forming the Kingdom. He's eligible to vote so I'd assume that counts.

And nope, he was feudal for years before he died and was still unelectable.

If your wife is landed, there's a known bug stopping you from electing your kids.

My wife wasn't landed, but she *was* eligible to be ruler. Someone on reddit said something about if the mother is a possible election choice, then you can't select the kids? Is that what you're talking about? That doesn't sound like it necessarily works with me being able to elect my grandson though?

Yes, that's the bug. The code is supposed to have an exemption from the "can't elect someone with an eligible parent" when that parent is the ruler's spouse, but someone misplaced a NOT so it instead only applies in that case.
