Why can't I appoint my heir as a commander or magistrate?

Playing as Syracuse and I have a capable son. My king Archagathos is in command of one of my main armies, and I want to put my son Agathokles in charge of the other --- or at least give him a role in government. I can give his younger brother a position but for some reason my heir is not showing up on the list of candidates I can choose. Any ideas?

Anyone had this happen?

I have the same issue guess it's a bug because it make no sense historically and game play wise it's just dumb pdx gotta fix this

I got an event about him wanting a role in the state that raised his prominence and then nothing. His brothers are employable. He just doesn’t show up on lists.

Click on your son from the character menu and look in the top left corner of his character sheet. Does it list a job there?

Hmm, some times I see my ruler in a list of candidates and I think, ahh ill put him in that other post where he is more qualified, but then he is not there when I look at that list. Maybe it was fixed in 1.0.1.

Click on your son from the character menu and look in the top left corner of his character sheet. Does it list a job there?

No. Nothing. He is unemployed.

I know it's an old topic, but if someone has the same issue you have to just invite person of interest to your court. Otherwise he cannot be appointed as commander or knight.
