can somebody please tell me why the hell they won't just DIE!!!!

i've conquored every damn province, they got nothing left, and they still just won't roll over. is this a bug or just *another* annoying flaw in this game?

yeah, annexing an entire country is only for uncivilized.
I suggest asking for California, or New York..
Or some rich provinces.
Then 5 years later feel free to attack America again for more land. Might take many wars to annex them completely and take Washington.
The guy above got it right.

That makes no sense to me. they're army is gone, they're navy is sunk, every single province (including midway, and all they're trading posts) now have the union jack overflying, and yet when i ask for territory to end the war they REFUSE!!!!???

how can a government of a non-existant country refuse to and a war??

it's just yet ANOTHER major irritation with this damn game.

i'm not even surewhy i bother with the damn thing anymore.

thanks anyway guys.

The nineteenth century is all about the balance of power. The three-province limit is debatable, but the great powers would have never allowed the outright annexation of a power of even middling rank in one go.

I think the game models this nicely in most cases. Countries like Switzerland or Denmark (or even Sweden or Sardinia) can be annexed in two wars. Real minors like Uruguay or Cube can be taken out in one go. Everything bigger is there to stay for decades, at least.

If you want to go on a WWII-style conquering spree take which provinces you can get from the US and humiliate them. Then break the peace treaty, reoccupy everything and repeat. You will lose a lot of prestige and rack up even more badboy, but you can do it, if that's your goal in the game. Just be prepared for the UK and Russia. They'll come knocking after uncivilized, warmongering huns. Oh, and it will turn the game into a wargame mostly, but that might be just what you're looking for.

I'm trying to go for world domination and figured i'd take the US out early, before they get too big and powerful.

is there an upper limit to the number of provinces you can demand in a peace treaty? or do i just keep asking and lower the number every time until they agree?

Humiliate them, demand war reparations, force demilitarization on them (=reset mob pool to zero). And then trounce them again and again.

there is no limit, you can ask for however much you want, and the AI may or may not agree.

Edit the save. Showid and write down the US's capital. Open up the save game (in scenario) and ctrl + F and enter the capital, change the line "Primitive = No" to "Primitive = Yes'

and the rest can be roleplayed: CSA Troops enter Washington and New York! Lincoln caught in blackface trying to escape into Canada! Union in complete anarchy! :)rofl:)

Use the neville cheat, then conclude any peace deal you want (outright annexation will still not be possible, but you can get any number of provinces).

Yeah! When I found out about the cheat Neville. It reduced my frustrations greatly!
It will make sure that peace offers and heck all diplomatic efforts are 100% accepted.
I hardly play a game without this cheat anymore...
