First wait the 5 year truce to expire and only then declare war again... otherwise the stabilit hit will be outrageous.... like -5 or something.

If you want to accelerate the process, may I suggest turboannexation?
OK, the BB is steep, but it can be worth it.

Alternatively, force vassalise and in 10 years, diploannex - if you were originally capable of having a royal marriage.

By the way, you can annex a Pagan nation in one go - no matter how big it is.

'You're only allowed to annex single-province nations, and that at a steep BB cost. Instead you should vassalize them, then in 10-30 years diplomatically annex them.'

dont be such a liberal! annex for the greater glory of the empire!

That is correct, but with 1 qualification. If the pagans are at war with someone else, & they control something of that enemy's, then you won't be able to annex. At least, that's what I've found.

That is true, because you needs 100% warscore. If you get military access into that country's land you can siege their provinces back.

A timely thread...

...just last night I completed my conquest of all of France and her imperial possessions.

When I offer peace I'm at +100%. I've been trying to get Artois, Luxembourgh, Oldenburg and 7 colonial possessions in the peace offer as tribute and it keeps rejecting my offer (quite impertinent of them while my soldiers occupy Versailles and the attention of their women, I might add).

This exercise is becoming quite costly in both war exhaustion (now at +6), lucre, and lost colonization efforts.

Which begs the question: should I vassalize France just to chance them later cancelling the vassalization, or accept less provinces as tribute?

Also, how or why, while I was occupying all their national provinces did France continue sending out traders? They were broke and didn't control a single port city.

AI nations will send them gifts to keep them afloat and ownership of a port city is not necessary to send merchants on the same continent on which the capital is located.

Oh no, I seem to have used the wrong nomenclature in my post. They weren't "traders", as in merchants, showing up in the CoTs. They were colonists going out and building "trading" posts. Sorry about the imprecise usage there. I'm rather new at all of this.

Took me about two years to hunt them all down until there wasn't a single French controlled territory. I've saved the game now and am trying to figure out what the heck to do, because I'm sure more are on the way.

It is an AI cheat - they can send colonists from occupied capitals to occupied colonies paid for by diplo-gifts that you never get. The AI gets lots of bonuses, but nothing that compares to the ability to think that we humans possess.

At least in my games, a 99% or 100% warscore seems to guarantee acceptance of any peace offer worth 49% or less. Sometimes I can get more, but often they'll dig in their heels and refuse. Against someone like France, who has valuable provinces, this can be a depressingly small amount of territory after some major fighting.

If I track down and destroy every single soldier and ship in their armed forces, they seem to accept anything under 99%.
