Just as the title says, why are hiveminds restricted from going for full bombardment policy? I mean, it's not like the "pops" would object.
Yes, but why isn't it to Hiveminds and Militarists. What, from a both a RP/lore perspective and a gameplay perspective, prevents hiveminds from deciding to go for heavy bombardment?Full bombardment is restricted to militarists.
I'd be willing to accept that argument for some of the other features Hiveminds lack access to, but let's be honest here, bombardment types are nearly cosmetic. It cuts down time a bit for the bombardment, but these are already short enough with any meaningful fleet that it doesn't really matter; A bit extra chance of destroying the pops, but these are low enough that if you can significantly purge the population of any non-just colonized planet through it, your war is lasting far too long. Destroying buildings and creating tile blockers? I guess it's a bit useful to debilitate an enemy if done at a planet you don't plan to conquer, but then again, that's a long war to go through.Either way id rather not have hiveminds be too good just for balance reasons.
It seems to be about balancing them out a bit.
Not that I care that much about full bombardment. It's not that useful. And since Hive Minds can go the Evolutionary Mastery route, there's no reason they can't throw an unending stream of Very Strong, Resilient Gene Warriors at every planet.
If the damage isn't too fast and you control the orbital, you can always retreat once your troops are somewhat damaged, wait until they get back at full strength, and land them back to fight. Also, for a FE, 12 troops each time might be a bit too few, honestly. I'd go with twice that for each invasion fleet, so you have more bodies to soak damage and more damage to kill their troops.I created a HiveMind civ/empire a few days ago and was in a war with a FE - trashed his fleet and then proceeded to start invading/landing troops on his planets. Dropped 12 Gene Warriors on one planet that had a 'host' of defenders.....result was I lost not the first batch of 12 Gene Warriors but a second set of 12 to boot. Man, not having Psi warrior/corps blows. But yeah...

because you don't understand that it's hurting them. cuz the do not express the signs of damaged drones.I think that all options or most options should be open to hiveminds, but then again why would you want to bomb your food another species into extinction etc
