Hi folks,

So, I have many hours ck2 behind me, but it seems, I still need some help.
I started as the Count of Kleve on the Old Gods start (it´s a shame there´s no Count on the Charlemagne start) and did my best playthrough so far.
3rd Generation, I was elected King after playing my coolest character, a female countess. I carved my way to the HRE and subdued whole Europe (I was surprised myself). First time I played Elective, it was surprisingly good managable, I hated Elective before.
For hundreds of years, I managed to get a member of my dynasty on the throne.
Than, about 1350, a mishap: My Emperor was killed in a minor war and another claimant ascent to the throne from House Coronel (such a good game, just as it gets somehow boring, I am challenged). I was stuck with the Kingdom of Andalusia, Gallicia and Brittany, they were also fractured, because I used it as a dumpster for giving titles to angry vassal.
So I set myself the mission to get on the throne again in the roughly 100 years I had left(after I reunited my Kingdom). I was a good breeder and I made Richard, with the impressive Diplomacy score of 24. He was my 2nd son, but my somehow dumb 1st son managed to get himself killed by Duchess Margarete "the Devil" (who still refuses to sleep with me).
House Coronel reacted and managed to change to Primogeniture (someone must explain me what "Absolute Monarchie" means under new Conclave Law, I didn´t manage to do that myself because of it, but that´s for another time).
So, I joined the Faction "Elective Monarchie", Civil War begins and we won!
But... when I try to nominate my heir, he is not under the Candidates. Why?
I have about 40 years left, can please someone tell me, why isn´t he a candidate? I want to get out of this great playthrough triumphant.

Keep on gaming,

Dennis

Only electors (kings/dukes within the empire) and family members of the emperor can be elected.

You could vote for yourself and then try to pass it to your son after your election and death. If your main character was to die you would also be able to vote for yourself (your son).

If your character has a claim on the title you should be able to start a faction to put yourself on the throne.
