Terrible, that is what I really didn't expected. (i.e. this answer) Why then Paradox guys didn't deleted this feature from the game?

These are the things that Yoda wrote me about Ai, that can using all of the games features. As we see now, it is not true, Ai still doesn't know how to use international loans. I guessing, what Yoda will tell us about Ai and this feature?

Actually there were instances of "unlawful" ai behavior in EU2 when ai was cheating on naval attrition (which it doesn't have, as well as in EU3) and colonization (have you noticed that pack of colonists sent at once to the same province?). I think it is still true for FTG and you might consider these features more "game-breaking" than "no loans proposals" thing :)

Hello,

I would include my guestion about why should I buy this game?
I own HOI2, HOI3 and EU: Rome (with addon) and I love them all. Never played the EU series although people seem to be "forching" me to buy that one.
This game seems interesting (specially 400+ years of history :p ).

My guestion is would you guys recommend me to buy THIS game not something else (EU3). Tell me your oppinion.

Ps. I havent seen REALLY good AI since Galactiv Civ II :D

Of course I would recommend it that's why I'm using this forum.:p
If you prefer the EURome style of "sandbox" play then perhaps EU3 would be more your cup of tea. If you like a more historical game then this could be the one.
The one thing I would advise is that if you got EU3 then you would probably want the expansions so this is probably the better investment.
As far as the AI goes............I haven't really formed much of an opinion as yet.

I checked for this affirmation. Actually the AI do know how to make international loans but his conditions to accept are very drastic : the AI do evaluates the benefits brought by the loan and all the problems brought by it to.

Thank you for your check. It is strange behavior than, when Ai never even try to offer a loan to other country if he knows how to use international loans. Well, maybe it is very difficult for it to calculate the percents and interest? If I knew how to use some technical instruments to check it...

And so it should. It shouldn't accept anything just to show that it can.

That's correct. But it is not Ok, that it NEVER accepting loans, even if it can be very useful for it.

I really cant fathom why this is so important (to gameplay). You want to be the world bank of the middle ages?

This is relevant for me and for other players also, because I don't want to play in game with defective Ai. Some players prefer singleplay instead of multiplayer. But even if you playing in multiplayer, it doesn't mean, that all countries shall be controlled by the people.

I am a SP player and I want a better AI, but my idea of a better AI is one that fights wars better / chooses techs better. Not one that knows how to make a few extra bucks from interest loaning to the AI of another country.

But if it decides to not accept a loan because it thinks it doesn't bring enough of a benefit it is anything else than defective.

You haven't demonstrated any clear in-game cases so far in which the AI should have taken the loan. You just said the AI never does, but that doesn't tell us if a given situation was so that the AI should have acted differently.

Ok then, I believe you that it can take loans from you, but what about offering them? It doesn't offer them anyway. I mentioned already, maybe it is better to delete international loans completely out of this game?

I think that Europa universalis are the global strategies, not wargames. And it is important that Ai know how to handle with domestic policy and loans.

Heh while i dont see it as essential id like to see loans working, the biggest problem for me that i have seen in original eu2, is that the ai NEVER repays a loan.

Thanks all for the infos!

Tried the demo, and I like it! (not surprising!).

Only one thing is a disapointment... EU3 music, not EU2... well, I'll get my EU2 CD and change them in the folder :p

Are you serious? No Fa-la-la-la-lan?
