I am a paradox fan since EU,

I played EU1, EU2, EU3 (still playing), HoI2, etc.

I'm asking you this: Why should I buy this game if I already have EU2? Is this game that much different?

I always played EU2 with the ACGEEP mod so I know the feeling.

What would be the best point you could give me so I would buy this neat game? :)

Thanks!

I think we have a plenty of info here already - DD, first impressions... And you even try a demo :)
Actually it feels really better than EU2, though remains essentially the same game. If you want to continue playing EU2 now and in the future, and have spare 20 ducats - FTG is the way to go.

I'll speak only for me.

I play in windowed mode 1024x768 because I'm still beta testing, and it is easier to go back to my documents. For my own pleasure I would use the normal resolution of my screen that is higher of course, no longer with the grainy aspect of EU2. The screen being bigger, I see more terrain at a time.
I'm alternating english and french, classic and modern font and also something related to a secret project without leaving the game or modifying the settings.txt. Much easier to test. Of course, when a classic gamer has chosen a settings no need to change every day, but it is available.

I've no time to lose, as I'm testing. So all the notifiers come usefully. They remind me to change my domestic policies, a truce expired or whatever is important and I might forget. I'm not yet use to the pause with F9 as I've already a pause button. But the zoom with the wheel of the mouse is priceless.

I'm better informed by all the tooltips. the effects of the events are readily available. I've a lot economic or military info without refering to the ledger, all hovering the mouse on objects.

Well sprites are fun, but I'm a no-nonsense guy so graphical gimmicks wont impress me. there are a lot, they are pretty, the game is better with them then with the old one but for me that's all.

I've not had time to play seriously yet. I'd like to try some of the available mods. Maybe not AGCEEP, I'm not a fan of the 10000 events, but maybe some in early medieval times, they seem to have big potential for fun. I think there will be more than ever, and it is also thanks to the changes in this game from what eU2 was.

Lastly, and it is a personal view, I've spent hours on EU2, If i was to spend 20€ more, that wouldn't pay the pleasure I already had. Actually, It would only pay part of the hours already spent.

I already wrote something about old and new here : http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=442019
And I’ve posted what was published on the new features of the game in the FAQ

split, remember to put the names of the songs in the file so the game actually plays them, otherwise it wont work ^^

Why buy this? Ive barely played the demo yet, waiting to get a CC to buy the game, but so far, and by reading developer diaries alone, I belive this is EU2 in its essence, but with all the utilities and perks that eu2 missed.

Also the new modding freedom will probably allow for mp games that use edits systems and/or military tradition system to actually insert the features ingame instead of doing off the game.

Well, because eu3 is more of a sandbox thing, ftg is an evolution of the eu2 style that was event driven.

The only thing that eu3 beat eu2 on, was their extra nice features, but the engine/map were too much of a turn-off. Now FtG solved it:9

If this game is based on EU2 why would a person want this game instead of EU3? I'm not familiar with either EU2 or EU3, just HOI/2/3.

CB

Surprisingly, EU3 is not a direct successor or EU2 imo (as it usually happens), but it's rather an another branch of game's development, while FTG aims to preserve EU2 tradition.

Because some, like me, loved EU2 w/ ACGEEP for the fact that it was filled with historical events and not some randomness like in EU3.

Do not flame me, I love EU3, it's just another experience!

I have mostly played HOI 1, 2 and 3, with a lot of EU3. What I have gotten out of the demo is that HOI 2 is to HOI 3 what FTG is to EU3(EU3 still a ton better than HOI 3 but I bet you get the point). This game feels more laid back from the 30 minutes I have played of it compared to EU3, which is the same feeling I get from HOI 2 compared to HOI 3.

I just saw a trailer on this game, and was really dissapointed that the map hasn't changed. Otherwise I would've bought it. The thing is, I've played EU1 and EU2 (EU3 was just a dissapointment for me) and I know the map in and out, which makes especially exploration much more boring. You know how all the provinces look all too well. And exploration was one of the things I really loved about the game, and still loves.
