Why build commercial/industrial?

I'm having a lot of success using practically nothing but residential and office zones. Commercial and industrial (as an extension) while more profitable seem like a lot of trouble in comparison. The worst of all is hitting the vehicle limit if you decide to grow your industrial zones, and you need to do that if you invest heavily in commercial.

Once your citizens are educated enough and you can make the ends meet, is there any reason to build commercial/industrial except for realism and beautification/variety?

The question is: What is your goal in this game? If it is fun for you to just build offices and residential and don't worry about traffic than do it.

I prefer to build pretty and realistic cities. However, it's always frustrating when the game mechanics go against logic and/or you have to make things intentionally harder for yourself.
