there's poo in the drinking water
one thing i don't like and don't understand....they get sound sickness WAY too easily.
don't build residential zones adjoining commercial or industrial zones; it also helps if you put a park between the zones. i never get citizens sick due to noise.
Yup, keep an 8-10 unit buffer from things that generate dark red noise, 8 units of office or parks or other non-noise and noise tolerate objects +road space usually gets the job done, also keep in mind high traffic roads also contribute though not as bad, ie don't locate that packed highway right next to the back of residential buildings, leave at least a few units of buffer if your highway must cross through such above ground.don't build residential zones adjoining commercial or industrial zones; it also helps if you put a park between the zones. i never get citizens sick due to noise.

But in real life people are living side by side with commercial. It's highly unrealistic that we can't mix the different types of zones.
it's a game; it's not real life
While a certain amount of realism is desirable, I think some people want a level of realism that I don't think I would enjoy. There needs to be a balance.
For an example, some first person shooters allow you to carry a ton of weapons and ammo. Is it realistic? No. Is it fun? Hell ya.
If noise pollution did in real life what it does in this game places like New York wouldn't exist and we never would have been able to adopt the automobile.
I'm not a big fan of noise myself, and avoid it as much as possible. My kid is ASD, and he has a real tough time with noise. It overwhelms him. I don't think he would do well in NY.
That said, the noise pollution "sickness" in CS is a bit much. I can see the noise reducing property value, especially in residential areas, but that is about it.
