Why are there 5 Phases? Should there be a 6th?

If someone is fielding all assaults, they are either playing a skirmish where their opponent probably has all assaults (and both sides know this is an all assault match), or it is late in the campaign, there will likely still be some mediums and heavies showing up and the assault lance will be trading turns with turrets. I still expect to keep at least a couple heavies in my lance, even in the end of the campaign, just for a little better initiative.

Going last has a small benefit in that the mech can't be knocked further down the initiative track. I have no problem with that.

If an assault mech gets knocked down after it has acted, it won't be able to stand up until the next turn. That means that any OpFor assaults will get a chance to make called shots.

Well, hell, they are already on thier asses the entire next turn arent they? They are already in the back of the line, IDK how much further you could knock them back. You cant get any further back in the line then the back of the line....

I mean, you Master Tac your Assaults, which I intend to do, you then have phase 4 to phase 5. It just seems to me that a 6th phase for assaults to get -1 int would just be double dipping. Literally everything goes before them already....

You misunderstand how it works. Initiative will not cross turns say you have a heavy go last in its phase and it knocks down the assault. The Assault can't go back any farther and since you moved last it will be able to immediately stand up.
