Why are the full Expansions getting more expensive for the same amount of Content?

El Dorado - $15 and included nation designer mode which must have been a lot of work to create.
El Dorado Content Pack - $5 and inlcuded many new unit models as well as 5 great songs.

And now, in December: The Cossacks - $20 and includes adding new systems that should have been included in Common Sense
The Cossacks Content Pack - $8 and only inlcudes unit models

Honestly, how can anyone defend this? I understand that they didn't include the Sabaton soundtrack because it defers from the usual music that most people will want in their game, so they made it separate, but still, that doesn't justify a content pack that has less content than older ones, but costs $3 more.
And it sure doesn't justify an expansion that costs $20, which I might add that you could purchase an amazing game for that price. Anyone who bought this expansion should really consider for a moment what this means for us fans. If you buy this expansion, they will think that continuing to nickel and dime us is okay, and the next expansion will be even more. Speak with your wallets. This ISN'T ok.

I actually assumed Paradox expansions have always been $20 a pop on release since Napoleon's Ambitions, way way back in EU3.

Apparently not - I should slow down a bit between clicking buy/checkout and to pay more attention to those pesky numbers.

I remember buying El Dorado one week after release for $15, and then the content pack for $5. They definitely don't bring expansion down in price until they are over a year old anyway. Art of War for instance is still $20, although I can defend that expansion somewhat since it came with lots of content and a nice free patch. Don't get me wrong, I love this game, but it makes me feel sick to my stomach when I support a developer/publisher that does this.

Price is set out of how many features, and how big they are in scope and time. Cossacks is by far the biggest expansion both when it comes to features and their size.

AoW and Cossacks are both 20€, and the smaller ones were prices 15€.

I don't know if the Cossacks is really worth $20 or less. As far as I can tell, it has a number of major features. I think it's subjective.

At this point, the question is whether you think the expansion is worth it.

I haven't bought Cossacks. I might in the future. I might not. It's my prerogative, and it's yours too.

Fair enough, I mistakenly forgot that Common Sense is $15 right now, but can you explain why the Content Pack costs more, but includes no music?

El Dorado - $15 and included nation designer mode which must have been more work to make than current expansions.
Oh really? I highly doubt that.

And now, in December: The Cossacks - $20 and includes adding new systems that should have been included in Common Sense
And in my humble opinion, ALL of these new systems should've been included in vanilla release, to be quite honest! Where do you draw the line?

El Dorado Content Pack - $5 and inlcuded many new unit models as well as 5 great songs.
The Cossacks Content Pack - $8 and only inlcudes unit models
We got 24 unit models for 6 tags from El Dorado Content Pack. I didn't want the El Dorado music - they didn't add any value for me and were forced down my throat because of whiners who demanded discounted "bundles" and don't want to scroll through a long list of DLC options.
We got 44 unit models for 11 tags from The Cossacks Content Pack, plus forts. $3 more works for me.

Honestly, how can anyone defend this?
Simple math. 44 + forts > 24 + 5 tracks.

The $20 full price is indeed quite pricey (that's why most smart shoppers bought it with that GMG -22% discount), but there aren't that many current "amazing games" for that price, unless you're talking about indie ones or oldie classics.

The El Dorado Content pack included 24 unit models, the Cossacks Content pack includes 76(!!) unit models and 18 fort models
Err, where did you get 76 units from? 8 x 8 + 3 x 4? Those infantry and cavalry units share the same unit models.

It is a bit of a drain on the old wallet, especially when you live in a state floating the dollar bellow the USD (it costed me around $41 dollars)... but its entirely justified considering the amount of content in the expansion and people in the Eurozone and US should get over it. I do agree the content pack should of been 5 dollars but since we are apparently getting free packs in addition as well as a steady increase in the quality of the content packs, im moderately content.

As others have pointed out, Art of War is also 20€

But Art of War is only expansion besides the Cossacks to have that price.

Honestly, they wouldn't ask 20€ if they didn't think their work is worth of it. The dev team put so much effort into this expansion (even if you disagree with the outcome), it was already revealed that some developers sacrificed their own free time to improve this expansion and here people are crying over 5€.

Price is set out of how many features, and how big they are in scope and time. Cossacks is by far the biggest expansion both when it comes to features and their size.

AoW and Cossacks are both 20€, and the smaller ones were prices 15€.

Were they really both 20€, couldn't really remember. But what I miss is a complete bundle. Now I spend 31€ for everything this around. A bundle with Cossacks+Contentpack+Sabaton Music for 25~26€ would be much nicer.

But yeah, this is probably somethin I have to tell PI and not PDS.

News for you, ALL the developers in the world have to work extra time at some point, even in holidays, and they are not paid for that.

Of course, managers are not included.
