Why are spaceborne monsters so clustered now?

Anybody else noticed that the spaceborne monsters seem to be not so spread far out now?

You used to be able to meet Void clouds, crystalline entities, space whales, and mining drones in the same playthrough. Now you don't.

I think they way too clustered.

I also missed the shard throwers. Does anyone know if they have been added back into the game? Come to think of it, why were they removed in the first place?

I have all four within spitting distance of my start.

I've got the associated stuff dealt with in my situation log.

Hm...it could be how the galaxy is spawned. I usually have a 1000 star galaxy spawned with 3.75x inhabited worlds.

Still I'm not sure why they removed the shard throwers you get from crystalline entities. I actually thought they were cool and added uniqueness to my ships.

The monsters are supposed to be clustered around a hive creature/lair from which they spread out. That has been introduced with 1.4 I think.

Thank you! I appreciate it!

Hm....I like that there clustered and spread out from that nexus but I think they could be spread out a bit more. I always seem to get space ameba and mining drones as well as privateers. I really want to get void clouds and crystalline entities.

Hm...the dev diary still doesn't explain why they removed the shard throwers.

Another thing that could be added to the spaceborne creatures is to have something like an event chain where you have to follow clues that lead you to the nexus.

It depends on the game. Currently I have huge concentration of crystals just off my starts, and loads of mining droids quarter of a spiral out (small galaxy). Haven't seen pirate or cloud yet. The whales and amoeba wander around and you tend to find them eventually.

Clouds in general tend to be more rare I think. They also don't have mini-boss system.

I like the way it is now. When the game first came out, I really did like the space monsters but after dozens of play throughs it become old hat and more a chore in the early game to clear them out so you could actually explore. Now you don't run into them as much so you have more freedom to explore early on and then when you find their home system, they are a lot tougher than they used to be to clear out of it. Plus you are supposed to get a good reward for doing so (research project to get tech, high mineral system, etc.). Anyway, I know it's impossible to please everybody but I for one liked the change and still do.

As for the shard throwers, they were kind of cool but ultimately, I never found myself using them much so they ended up just being more stuff to scroll through on the weapons list when designing ships so I don't really miss them. I did notice that the name shard throwers will still show up in the tooltip if you hover over the project after killing them, but you don't get the tech when you complete the project.

It's possible that they'll add them back in especially if Paradox finally gets around to adding a silicoid race.
