Hey,

Every now and then I will get a retinue added to my army after raiding(?) or border disputes. I am not creating these as the retinues are ones that don't interest me (Hunting Party and Tribal Warrior [Tribal/Russian/Reformed Slavic])

I don't actually realise they are there until after I disband my armies and see that there is a few more than expected. Does anyone have any idea why this might be the case?

When you inherit a title, if the previous holder had a retinue, you inherit it with the title. What's likely happening is you have a bunch of childless vassals dying without heirs and their titles reverting to you, bringing their retinues with them. Likewise if you are playing the inheritance game (for instance, marrying a duchess so your kid inherits the duchy as well).

You can either just disband them, or keep them if you like.

Thank you. That makes sense and seems like that's how it's happening. Appreciate the answer.
