Really? I'll admit I only got the game in July so I wasn't on the forum but it seems odd that in the pre-SOI days, that more people wanted Norse Pagans than Muslims in a game set in the 11th century. Oh well, I guess people really do love their Vikings.
He's talking about the player demand, not how spread each group is. Call it viking appeal, call it a desire to fight the ruling power, regardless, the norse and other pagans have been probably more requested than muslims ever were, much more than republics anyway.
You are right, but nobody's actually arguing against you. Nobody said muslims and orthodoxes dont make more objective sense, but gauging forum buzz, its preety clear people dont view this strictly objectively. Plus, once you move outside the forum, to the more casual players, what do you think is more markeatable: "play as muslims, get some extra taxes from infidels, become a caliph and theres a decadence system too" or "play as the pagan, raise your battle axe and go pillage christian lands, defend you throne from challenges by combat and turn the tide on history!". With online impulse purchases, a pagan dlc with viking focus sells itself.
Seriously, where's the bloody report button.Pagans are cristians that are not introduced to cristianity yet.
Haha he is merely expressing his belief in the one "true" faith. Ironically the one true faith has spawned more paedophiles and monsters than any other in the history of man.Seriously, where's the bloody report button.
I could find that remark equally annoying and offensive as his.Haha he is merely expressing his belief in the one "true" faith. Ironically the one true faith has spawned more paedophiles and monsters than any other in the history of man.
If you ask me, I don't see a reason why do so many people perceive it as important... It will give us an ability to play a basically lowborn family and, only if we're in power (holding the doge title), to control entities weighing a few baronies. Who gives a damn about decorating your family house, and your few shiny coins, if there are empires and religions colliding all over the place?
It's just not grand enough... I hope Paradox will include some new innovation like factions and retinues were, because playing an overly complicated barony just doesn't cut it for me...
Maybe I've omitted something - or am pretty unrealistic, but this following expansion isn't an expansion, but a mere minor DLC.
If I may phrase myself in a slightly mean way, that's bullshit, dear sir. Since before release of CK2 there was a lot hype about pagans being playable, which got even more noticable after the launch. Of course, there were many topics about Muslims, Republics and Byzantine and some other stuff, but they were definitely not more desired than Pagan dlc. Do remember, that norse are not only pagans, you got whole Cumania, baltic pagans and mongols at their arrival + all the other north-eastern areas of the map.No, he's just wrong. There were enormous threads about playable Muslims that only quieted down once Paradox promised they would be made playable in a DLC. The Byzantines also get enormous amounts of love here and always have (people are still demanding Paradox let them pay money to get a purple Byzantine interface, for pity's sake). The norse weren't even a significant request at the time; they've only become a hot topic of forum conversation in the last few months, fuelled as much by their detractors as boosters.

Quite a fair bit of map don't you think? If you push back the starting date a little, it'll be much bigger.
A flop? I'm sorry what?I do desire it, i'm just not overly confident about it. Sword of Islam was a flop and so was the Legacy of Rome dlc and both didn't change much at all other than retinues. I believe that the Republic dlc will be better, but how better is the question. People are acting like the game will be forever changed, when not that much will be different. Hopefully some republics will emerge naturally during playtime, but theocracies and non-dlc republics rarely appear anyway.
Others have been begging for republics (as well as pagans and theocracies, but at least we're 1/3 of the way there now) for ages. It does not matter if a few people, such as you, don't desire it when the majority do.
