So, something that I am quite interested in is the different empires of the community, however, not in the mechanics sense, but what lore people have imagined for them. Then possibly try to guess their ethics
I'll start with mine:

The Kaladian Dominion
The Kaladian dominion started out a long time ago, with the kidnapping of hundreds of thousands of human beings from across the Earth through history by a mysterious alien race, and their subsequent relocation to the world that is now called Kaladia. The Aliens, apparently content with watching their pets from afar, and becoming little more than myth and legend, let the humans on this world grow and tame their new home.
Then one day The Watchers who until that point had guarded the Kaladians from outside influence dissappeared. Leaving the human civilization, who had reached roughly early 21th century technology by that point, open to unknown hostilities. The Narans, a race without a world decided to make Kaladia their own. The fighting was long and hard, but eventually the Narans had been completely wiped out, and their technology appropriated by the badly wounded humans.
The humans now unified military siezed control over the remnants of civilization to keep it from crumbling into anarchy, and aimed their eyes outwards, realizing that in order to protect themselves from more powerful interstellar foes, they had to join their ranks.
(This is where the game begins)
This worked great for a while, with the Dominion expanding rapidly, crushing those that posed a threat and allying those willing to be allies, its prides and joys, the elite Espacier Corps and the powerful Dominion Fleet protecting its borders. However, fractures started appearing in the government, a great council led by military and civilian leaders from all of the Dominions worlds, and civil unrest started rising once more... Eventually erupting into a decade long civil war with warlords seeking to sieze power for themselves, almost tearing the Dominium apart... Until one Warlord managed to sieze control and formed the Kaladian Imperium. This created a cultural Renaissance with values and traditions drawn from the olden days. Officers became an almost feudal aristocracy, and the Espaciers became almost like unto Knights, with expeditionary fleets renamed Crusades.
An Empire, Unified in its faith in the Imperial dynasty.
