So if you send volunteers to they still use your equipment even if its outdated or do they have the chance if possible to use the receiving nations equipment if its more up to date?

Volunteer probably use your equipment, as you still control them.

Expeditionary forces which are controlled by the nation you're sending them to, probably use their equipment stockpile instead of yours. This is at least what logic would dictate; I don't believe this has been confirmed.

It would be nice to have the option to have the receiving nation give your volunteers their equipment if its up to date. The only thing with expeditionary forces is that you need to be allied in a war to send them correct?

We saw Germany give Nationalist Spain some volunteers in a WWW a while back. Every Spanish division was missing about 70% of their equipment and the German divisions rolled over them in short order, so I think it's likely that volunteers use the sender's equipment rather than the receiver's.

Having them use the receiving nation's equipment would also open up the possibility of a dick move where you send five divisions to a nation, steal 50,000 rifles and sod off again :)

Well yea that does make sense but i guess im looking at it from a historical standpoint. When Spain sent volunteers to Germany, the Spanish were issued most if not all German equipment. Maybe there can be an option if the AI wishes to give your volunteers better equipment.

To counter coming back with the given equipment maybe once the war is over or when volunteers are sent back the equipment goes back into the nations stockpile rather than just freely acquiring equipment for a whole division.

But the chances of the receiving country having spare equipment, nevermind more modern than the sending country, are pretty remote. If you are the Spanish Nationalists and receive several German and Italian Divs that you have to equip you will be rejecting them. There is no benefit if you have to provide the equipment, unless your MP is very very low, especially as the receiving country doesn't control these Divs. Nat.Spain would be better off just using it's own MP, and controlling Divs it produces and integrating them into their own armies.

Im not saying that you have to provide the equipment for volunteers all the time. Now obviously if youre a country such as Nationalist Spain and Germany/Italy send volunteers, you wont have proper resources to equip them. It could be up to the player/AI whether or not to supply better equipment to volunteers or not totally optional.

So for example the volunteers start off with whatever equipment they were originally supplied. You see their combat capabilities are not to par with the enemy forces due to lack of better equipment and you happen to have enough quality equipment to supply them, therefore you could take it upon yourself to give them X amount of equipment to help them.

Seems about right. I'd think this is the most logical solution.

the receiving nation still can send equipment to the nation that sens the volunteers which can use this equipment for the volunteer forces

so yeah there is a possibility that to make the volunteers use the equipment of the receiving nation
