I don't have any Guarantee or anything. I am just dragged into a war without making a choice.

I would like to say there haven't been many notifications at the timeframe of my game, at 2250. So I should not have missed a vote if there is one. And I never dismiss any notification at all.

You automatically join an offensive war in the following conditions:

Your overlord declares war and you are a vassal.
You are in a Federation and the Federation decides to go to war (sometimes the vote goes fast and you don’t have time to interact before a majority is reached).

You automatically join a defensive war in the following conditions:

Obvious one first: you are attacked.
You have guaranteed someone’s independence and they are attacked.
You have a defensive pact or federation and the other party is attacked.

    Other scenarios:
Event based wars (such as the war in heaven and Machine uprisings) can have strange effects and trigger without warning.
Federation members automatically join each other’s wars.
Wars of independence (not that I’ve fought one) may be interesting.
Most of us know the game rules by heart. If not, this thread would have just sunk already if the circumstances are exactly the same to any of the above.

    No...

    1. Signatory of a Defensive Pact without Guarantee, Vassalage or Favour is dragged into an OFFENSIVE WAR in 2250 (my case)
    2. One Federation member is dragged into the OFFENSIVE WAR of ANOTHER FEDERATION (SpectralShade's case)
    3. Dragged into an OFFENSIVE WAR without knowing how (PeterPancake's case)

I ran into this problem last night. What is happening is Paradox's bright idea of disabling a lot of event popups ended up disabling Federation war declaration vote popups. You need to keep an eye on your notifications in the top left for crossed swords because you WILL be pulled into a war against your will unless you catch it and vote no. It happened to me about three times in my last playthrough before I finally just left the federation.
I don't think it has to do with notifications. All I can tell, there has never been a notification and my habit is to never just dismiss anything since... they go away automatically.

And it seems it affects both wars in and out of a Federation. Perhaps it has something to do with setting the Player to automatically vote Yes for a war? It could explain it in terms of game logic, although I don't really think it is a case where a Vote having appeared and counted down in the first place.
