I will enthusiastically pre-order it, even if the pre-order incentive package doesn't include a peaked pith helmet!Honestly, I think Paradox's next big title will be Victoria 3. After HoI4 comes out, Victoria 2 will be the oldest of the newest of each series of games (if that makes sense).
Yeah, everyone makes it sound like Vicky 2 was a masterpiece, but it also sounds far more complicated than, say, EU4. Hopefully, given what's happened with all the other series, Vicky 3 should be both an improved masterpiece and more noob-friendly.![]()
Actually, the game moved along quite well. Trade and resources were things that took care of themselves most of the time, once one had one's economy in order, but there were always the late-game shortages of iron, coal, and steel, especially if China industrialized.
Especially with the New Nations Mod, the game moved from consolidation of borders/industrialization to scramble for Africa and Asia to heightened nationalistic tensions that lead to the Great War. It was different each time, yet the patterns molded into the game made each game seem "right", even if the lineup of the great powers in 1910 was anything but historically accurate.
I won't go into what would be needed to make a Vicky3 a better game than Vicky2, but there surely are some features in games like EU, CK, and HOI that would be welcome additions to the Victoria series.
Signed. Victoria series of games is great. It's weird to me that it isn't that profitable as other Paradox franchises.
If Paradox releases Victoria III and then Rome II I'll never have to buy a game again![]()
Signed. In all honesty, Victoria III would probably have to exist before I would buy HoI4. I'm not interested in World War II games, so HoI does not appeal to me in and of itself. But if Victoria III existed, and I could play a mega campaign spanning from CK2 to EU4 to V3 to HoI4, I could see myself actually buying HoI4 just so I could do that. (Of course, if they both made V3 and revived the concept of a Cold War game so that mega campaign could run from the Middle Ages all the way to the present or near future, then my buying HoI4 would become a total certainty. But I'm not holding my breath for that.)
