I would likely do it once, to play around with it and hopefully do something cool. However, it sounds to me like it will be something that after the first time, I will not want it to fire. Part of the fun for me in ck2 is instability and danger in the realm, and succession is a big part of that.
Don't worry, you can turn these fantasy events off. Also, the event only fires for you and not for the AI, because... there can be only one! (•_•) / ( •_•)>⌐■-■ / (⌐■_■)

I have serious doubts the event chain will make characters immortal. More likely it will be just something to keep us entertained and give us a trait or two in exchange for gold.

I disagree, because the code for immortality, by default, has been in CKII for a long time. Paradox is just finally finding a way to include it in the game, so unless they change something to make it different, the default immortality experience will indeed make someone literally immortal to all things except assassination and death by combat. They can still acquire diseases and life-threatening conditions (ex. infirm and incapable), but they won't die from them.

The mod Dark World has been experiencing with this conundrum lately. In particular, anyone with the succubus trait could opt into immortality, including the AI, which the AI always did (I can't blame them)! However, it lead to very stagnant gameplay. The way around this was having a check in place where the AI would voluntarily commit suicide when they realized being immortality wasn't all it's cracked up to be, as their loved ones around them died off!

It will be interesting if Paradox includes something similar, or if they take the lazy route and release the immortality trait with its default settings. When Paradox speaks of immortality, I doubt they're lying. The code has already been with us for a while, so they'd be silly to refuse using it.

I will most certainly try to get this on a Zoroastrian character. The Saoshyant as immortal God Emperor of Persia with his daughter concubines, who over time will be daughters of the daughters of the daughters and so on. But still with the same father. And of course the immortal emperor having his own holy order of immortals.
Maybe even hope for a Zoroastrian Satan Spawn who becomes immortal.

This is going to get sick.

Castrate all the sons, no one shall impregnate your daughters and your daughters daughters and your daughters daughters daughters daughters but yourself!

Voted for yes.

I'm in favour of some fantasy-ish events; I just wouldn't want them to become too prominent (to be clear, something in the style of the Spawn of Satan, i.e. very rare, would be ok).

as per the church being gritty about you hitting 217.
In Song of Roland (which was pretty much a sung piece of french/christian propaganda with a lot of fantasy in it) our old buddie Charlemagne is pictured as a two hundred year old king who every night has visions of the future sent to him by the God Himself. And he was pictured as the ideal king in there (of course for other reasons than that but you can look it up as it has nought to do with the thread)

But you should already know that if you have the Song of Roland ebook dlc, I mean why else would you buy than to hear it out:rolleyes:.
