I know there has been a similar thread already, but I would like to bring up this topic again. Hearts of Iron is the only Paradox strategy series without cultures although it is one of the most important times for having cultures and Nationalism.
Firstly: There is no reason that german provinces in Poland would revolt against Germany when they are occupied. It would make sense if the german and hungarian provinces in Czechoslovakia would revolt or have some Penalty although they have cores there. Same goes for Kurdish provinces in Turkey or Korean provinces in Japan.
Secondly: It was always annoying to script events for every single culturebased revolt in Darkest Hour (HoI2 clone)
For China and the Soviet Union (when conquering eastern poland) there could be an anti attrition bonus as the people could see them as liberators (maybe)
Is there anyone out there who would like to see cultures in the game or a dlc?

Cultures # Penalties on conquering unjustifiable land

Ok apparently people don't understand what I meant:

Cultures don't really need to be presented In-game, if you have provinces which you don't have a claim on + slight modifiers for different cultures etc= biggest resistance when you occupy it.

In other Pdx games culture is a huge thing for me. Love it. And usually only play mods that add to it. (in EU IV: MEIOU and Taxes I was probably the biggest pusher for Romagnol culture in Italy), but this is HOI4.

Culture opens the door to things best avoided in this game, and beyond that HOI4 is just as much about ideology as culture. So you'd have people with a different culture cooperating with the ideology they like for instance. They best way to handle whatever you want to handle with culture, is to make sure partisans role in the game are well done.

Culture is not needed, when the game is put in 10 years period. There is nothing to be done to change culture of province in the space of 10 years. Even if this province was heavily assimilated.

Who was talking about changing the province culture? It should be like cores, they are fixed (let's exclude events). Cultures where very important in these 10 years. And let's be honest. There will surely be a dlc or a mod which will expand the timeline to the whole cold war era.

Cultures and overt nationalism are things best avoided in a game set in this period, the reasons for this should be obvious and many are forbidden topics on this forum.

There's no reason not to implent them. They are in all other paradoxgames and never have they been more important than in these 10 years. This is also no forbidden topic.
Can you name a reason not to have cultures?

Define cultures:

Placing cultures and be able to change them or switch them? absolutely not

Have way different cultures give negative modifiers to occupiers? Yes to a certain extent.

Defy what you mean cause ''cultures'' is really broad as a term and this is a war based game.

I'm just hoping they throw in a button that lets the player freely (mostly) transfer controlled provinces without needing to resort to the console. I think I get overly obsessed with coloring the map just so...

I'd be in the "really no need for cultures in a HoI game". The question is, what does adding culture in add to gameplay? Resistance can be managed via cores and claims (and, indeed, can be managed better, because there was a substantial degree of variance in terms of the amount of resistance given by different provinces of the same culture), so you don't need culture for that. Penalties for production (if they exist, we haven't heard anything about them yet) can be handled the same way.

@PanosB3 Why implement them then?
For the reasons i stated below:
. If two countries have a core on a province (e.g. Czechoslovakia and Germany) then there should be still some partisans if the culture is different from the countries culture.
. In the normal game all modders would have to script countless events for possible uprisings and the culture system would fix it
. if there is a same culture province then you should have less attrition

@Axe99 The question is, what does adding culture in add to gameplay?
See below

About the Partisans, it would make it much easier. You would just have to make an event like: culturegroup = Serbian + 50% revoltchance. And tada you have partisans.
Why is everyone so resistant towards cultures? They have been in all other paradoxgames.

Or simply make higher attrition on non claimed-core provinces? Wouldn't that be the same exact thing since countries 9/10 times have cores/claims on cultures same as they do or very similar?
