1) Gen Lee called this man “the Stonewall Jackson of the West” and said: “He is a meteor shining from the clouded sky, a young eagle in the West.” Who was he talking about?

2) Gen Nathan Forest told another Confederate general, after he blamed him and others for letting a Union army escape. “You have played the part of a dam scoundrel and if you were any part of a man I would slap your jaws and force you to resent it. I say to you that if you every again try to interfere with me or cross my path it will be at the peril of your life!” Who did Forrest say that to?

3) In a similar situation as above, Gen Forrest told another General ”If you were a whole man, I’d whip you within an inch of your life, God dam it”! Which Confederate General did he say this to?

4) Who did Gen Grant say this about (in 1862): “This person outranks everyone, even Lincoln”. (This is a tuff one)

5) After his crushing defeat, he said “I asked too much of my men. Yesterday we were on the pinnacle of success and today we face ruin”. Who said that?

6) Gen U.S. Grant said this about someone in the Confederacy: “He has once again come to the aid of the Union army”. Whom was he referring to?

7) “Follow him until the death! If it costs 10,000 lives and breaks the treasury, there will be no peace in TN until he is dead”! Who did Gen Sherman say that about?

#3 is probably John Bell Hood, since Hood had a few pieces of himself shot away in various battles.

#1 is pretty humorous, though Van Dorn was certainly as aggressive as Stonewall Jackson, and Van Dorn did lead the most destructive cavalry raid of the civil war in terms of monetary damages against the Union depot at La Grange, Tennessee.
