Hello everybody:

It was several months since my last game. It was my first WC. I did it with Spain and it was great, but soooo long and tedious that I had to quit EUIV for a while. That was with 1.20 patch...

Several days ago I wanted to play again to try the last expansions. I felt rusty, not remembering several mechanics, so I decided to try the Ottos for a relaxed good-old blobbing... and I founded they had been nerfed!!! Yes, they had been nerfed, that is a fact... but in a way they are better than ever: love the new Persia, the jannisaries units, the professionalism, the piety changes, the muslim schools... Ottos are still a juggernaut, but the blobbing has to be slower and it makes the game more challenging.

My plan: Sunni+humanist all the way to exploit the dhimmi and not care about rebel stomping.

But...I can see that people are complaining about the Otto nerf... really? WC is still pretty doable even for not hardcore players, and the feeling of being a powerhouse is not lost. It is just more challenging... It is just more FUN.

Cheers!!

I do, but I changed my playstyle a bit and switch Quantity for Aristo. A little bit slower, without endless merc but change of pace is always good for me or I will hate the game because of its repetitive scenario.

The nerf of Karaman and Sinop cores is not really bother me though, as long as you vassalized Ramazan and Dulkadir early, they will left allying each other at best, because with CoC Mamluk are often too busy conquering the holy city areas or straight south to Ethiopia.

I'm a little bit slow at conquest, mostly because of change to Aristo, but my economy are much more stable (the Aristo events which gave me 1 year income fired twice in 20 years :D). With 100 Absolutism at around 1650, I can eat whole states efficiently for example eat big Papal States that control most of Northern Italy in 1 war (Napoli, Milan, Rome, Mantua are big dev province) and expansions at Central Europe is always the most headache because of high dev provinces and coalitions.

The only different playstyles maybe that I'm not using Dhimmi states as often because I took extra policy (Aristo-Humanist, -1 unrest, +25 religious unity) and can unify Islam much sooner even though I'm taking the Humanist road. If I can't personally handle unrest, I usually use the "Assign Pasha" button for quick solutions.

TLDR ; The nerf doesn't bother me a bit, Ottomans are overpowered because of their ideas, gov.type and rich Anatolia lands, removing 5-6 cores are not an issue.

Can you unify Islam without having 100% percent of your provinces sunni? Without religion ideas it seems to be almost imposible to achieve.

Also I was thinking to try the "new" aristocratic ideas... are they worth it with the otto? why?

Thanks Vicodin_Addict!

You can, the prerequisites is :
"All owned provinces: Are in Muslim Group"
So Shia and Ibadi provinces are fine, and you can request Inquisitor from Ulema. So once you have a stable realm, you can revoke states like Yanya, Filibe etc from Dhimmi and convert it to Sunni.

Aristo is a very good Idea group, +33% manpower are not really that inferior compared to +50% from quantity and extra tech discount allow me to use MIL points for strengthen government and harsh treatment for extra absolutism. +1 sieges pip are also good for quicker siege, pair well with Offensive ideas.

Aristo power lie not in the ideas but rather in policy just like Innovative, Aristo-Trade for example gave you +1 merchant and +15% trade abroad. extra hundred ducats for 1 DIP/month? Yes Please!
