My ally Austria has a strange love for my enemy Venice. They are not allies and never have been. It seemed to me that when relations fall below 50, then instead of friendly, neutral should turn on. But that doesn't happen. Austria's attitude towards Venice has been fluctuating lately from -10 to +10, but the status is always friendly. This categorically prevents me from going and fighting Venice, since Austria refuses to participate, and Venice is in alliance with Castile.

And although Aragon is on my side, but they are planning an Iberian wedding there, I would not want to interfere, and secondly, there may not be enough strength. Aragon's habit of getting stuck in an unknown place infuriated me in the last game. I categorically do not want to conclude an alliance with France, because it is already too big, and then its tendency to break alliances has let me down more than once.

And also this bad country Venice stocked up with indulgences to see the very end of the world, so even the Pope can not be used.

Friendly status gives - 30 to the desire to participate.
Prepare for war +10
100 trust +10 (not there)
Diplomatic reputation +5 per unit, but in the republics it is initially 0 and there is nowhere to take it from

The easiest way is to change the status from friendly to neutral, how can I do this?

Do you have the favours ro reduce Austria relationship with novice by -100?
That should definitely push them into neutral territory.
This is 50 favors. I don't have that amount, and then I'm not sure if that would help. Well, if I knew that it would help, I would certainly begin to collect them. But I was surprised why at -10 it did not reset to neutral. Suddenly even -100 will not work.

But this is a very long process and last time it did not work out. Not reset the status but force to fight. If Venice starts to improve its attitude with Austria, it can pump up its own attitude to 100 and then nothing will help at all. I need a quick solution, if there is one at all. Usually in such cases, I attacked the allies, but here everything is out of reach.

Who else is Venice allied with? If there is an easy target just DOW on their ally bringing Austria in. You could also force Venice to remove current rivals in the hopes they choose Austria as their new rivals.

50 favours is breaking an alliance. The wiki says reducing opinion by -100 is only 10 favours (I swear to god I thought it was 20 favours)

Stock up on favours to do a reduce opinion, prepare for war, and cta in the next 3 months. As a minor you should always try to have 1 diplomat set to curry favours

reducing opinion was 10 fav last time I checked

Also I'm pretty sure prepare for war is +20 reasons to join, isn't it?
Ha. You were absolutely right, indeed -100 for 10. Oops. And preparation for war is really +20. How interesting I remember 50, I remember very well how long and tedious I collected them, and also with Austria. Maybe it was a year ago?

Thank you very much. That's so firmly convinced about something, but it turns out it's not at all like that. Thank you.

Through allies and those whom it guarantees does not work, everything is beyond reach. And using a trade dispute will not lead to anything good.

It’s not a minor anymore, out of some kind of fright, they even signed me up in Great Power. But I'm not ready to play in this league yet.

With two diplomats it is very difficult to collect favors. The mission tree rested on the presence of Venice where it was not necessary and the unwillingness of Austria to fight, I had to make claims the old fashioned way.

I just need to get this over with before the French smell blood.

I remember very well how I collected these favors for a very long time, because I needed Austria to be able to attack someone there. I even had to spend part of it in the middle, and then it turned out that the reason was not that Austria had a too good attitude towards the goal, but vice versa. It certainly could not have been in the last game, there is the exact same version. Maybe it was a year or a half ago. In general, the affairs of bygone days, I was mistaken, they corrected me, everything turned out as well as possible ;) .

Castille is not necessarily a useful ally for them. Once Castille starts colonizing, they tend to ship most of their armies away to the Americas to conquer the Mexico and Peru regions. If they're involved in such a war, or recently peaced out, odds are that you can basically walk straight into Iberia facing minimal resistance.

This is 1481. They haven't gone anywhere yet. It's just from old memory, I just played as Castile and somewhat overestimated the capabilities of the AI in comparison with the player. And then at the same time, I encountered a couple of very unpleasant traits of Aragon that make him a very unpredictable ally. The habit of getting stuck on the islands and the nasty habit of periodically disbanding the army and recruiting it again, destroying the manpower to zero.

In general, everything worked out that way. While I was dealing with Venice, Venice was besieging Austria, Austria was taking minors out of the game, and Aragon was hiding from Castile. Then I beat Venice in battle, and Austria helped Aragon beat Castile. The most difficult thing was to deal with the fleet of Venice in order to be able to besiege the capital. If the fleets of the allies could act in a coordinated manner, then everything could turn out differently.

Without Austria, it would have been very, very hard and very long, and so the war lasted for almost three years. The Austrians are reliable and always exactly what you expect. They besiege minors very well. They cover me with their territory, and if the enemy is too strong and you can’t get to him right away now, then they lose battles perfectly. Well, when a turning point occurs, they do business, and do not run from corner to corner. Or do not hang out on the islands.

The reduce opinion favor interaction is surprisingly effective. You can get some countries to ditch their allies with that alone in some instances. It has a shorter cooldown than "Break Alliance" as well.
