Reminds me of a wonderful scene in "Lord of War"
So, people, are you Simeon or Yuri?
You'd think this was an easy question but then on occassion, going all Magnificent Seven has a particular draw all its own. : )

I doubt pirates are available as contract givers. I mean, If you're willing to do the dirty work for a pirate you basically are one. Which begs the question why you should give your employer any part of the looting.
Aside from that I would reject contracts against the Commonwealth or the Combine which should be pretty easy in the rimward periphery. Though the FedRats need to throw a lot of money at me for getting my interest.
So, yes, apologies. I used the term 'nuked' to mean, 'cracked the atmospheric dome of a city on a toxic planet.' As for being 'anti-nuke', you are correct, The Knights of the Inner Sphere were very anti nuke. But those Davies were provided by Marik Nationalist to Marik Rebels to be used against Word of Blake transplants that Sir Thomas Marik allowed on planet. It was a political morass of issues, and of course the mercs got shafted.Whhaaa, Marik nuked their own world? That mustve happened in one of the books I didn't read because I remember reading a book where Marik was staunchly anti-nuke and fought rebels who were using Davy Crockets
Unless I'm the most confused Battletech fan ever <_>
Correct. I blame Comstar. He's probably talking about the Helm incident, where they blew (not nuked) up a domed city on, Sirius V(?) to blame the Grey Death Legion.
Breaking the cease fire and maybe even the going after the families in this case was probably according to the ROE, as the Legion was declared shoot-on-sight outlaws.
I blame Comstar too.Correct. I blame Comstar.
~Leone.
this oneWhoever pays the bills, until I get shafted by one. Then they are blacklisted or paying a premium.![]()
Blame Comstar? For what? They're just a harmless group of monks, facilitating interstellar communications!
I see people talking about the potential for your employers in the procedural missions betraying you or duping you into a company store ploy. I thought someone asked a question about such things in one of the Q&As and the answer was no, but I'm not 100% on that.
The destruction of a domed city on Sirius V in 3028 was a frame job devised by a comstar precentor and his lacky who happened to be a free worlds league noble. The Precentor new about the star league cache on helm which the free worlds league gave a sizeable fief upon said planet to the mercenary outfit the grey death legion. Certainly wasn't a betrayal by the free worlds league. A comstar plot and a corrupt noble!
However in 2770 the free worlds league did try to confiscate a bunch of mercenary mechs after a battle claiming breach of contract. I believe the Black Warriors were involved and gathered a rag tag group of mercenary commands and escaped forming the Circinus Federation in the periphery.
Of even more concern Thomas Marik the current ruler in 3025 does develop anti mercenary sentiments later in his rule i believe in the mid to late 3050s.
Though generally the free Worlds league treats mercenaries well their have been times where this is not the case.
This being said when it comes to company store policies the Draconis Combine and the Federated Suns are the worst of the worst. Just ask units like Paul Bunyon's Regiment, Wolfs Dragoons and the Northwind Highlanders!
Yup. Kurita did a somewhat simliar thing to the Eridani Light Horse after they tried to break contract after the Kentares massacre. You forgot that time that Anton Marik decided to take control of Wolfs Dragoons. Of course that did not end well for him.
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Kentares_MassacreHorrified by news of the atrocity, the Eridani Light Horse mercenary unit attempted to break contract with the Combine in June 2798, only to suffer their own massacre in microcosm when the Combine official on their baseworld of Sendai killed all their dependents when the mercenaries refused to surrender. Dropping onto Sendai, the enraged Light Horse extracted a bloody vengeance before leaving for the Free Worlds League.
Anton Marik was a rebel fighting against the rightful ruler of the Free Worlds League Janos Marik. Wolf dragoons should have took a contract with the government not some rebel who ended up betraying the dragoons and of course we know how that ended for Anton! You forgot that time that Anton Marik decided to take control of Wolfs Dragoons. Of course that did not end well for him.

If a civil war erupts in the Free Worlds League....avoid it like the plague!
