Oh, no! Hope he feels better soon. I've enjoyed his YouTube content for a couple of years now.

I knew he was diagnosed with incurable cancer a couple of years ago - I'm quite glad he's still alive and kicking, and it seems like he's been fighting the good fight. Hope he can get back to it sooner than later.

Apparently TB has access to same beta build as Cohh has, but TB is struggling with some serious back issues (insane pain 24/7) and those render him unable to work.

Dear me. That sucks.

I loved his channel and was wondering why he went so quiet.

Well we've had like 30 "Why can Cohh play now and we cant?" Threads, which suggests his streams really do have the huge reach we were promised.

I'd suggest giving access to George Ledoux, a.k.a. Duncan Fisher, the Solaris announcer in MW4:Mercs. He did a video plugging the kickstarter and is a big MWO player. And an absolute treasure.

Dude.
It doesn't have to be the worst assumption, They could just disagree with enjoying his content.
It hasn't been the same since the Terraria days.

Plus, when you get down to it, he rarely covers individual games anymore, and never in the depth most folks would want for this one.

Thought that was 'Free' Worlders?

Taurians are proud to live in not only one of the oldest but what they see as the freest society in known space. Freedom of speech and the press not only allows the average citizen to express their views without fear of government censorship but for the creation of a multitude of news sources and political parties who have made arguing over everything something of a sport.

Not ot mention it being turn-based might be a relaxing experience. Allows you to time to consider your move and think ahead. Just like tabletop (unless you play it drunk).

You mean... you don't play DrunkTech? Start with 4 mechs, strategically order the eight mechs of reinforcements, equal total BV, one shot per critical hit received, winner is last player standing?

It's like you haven't really lived.

I don't care if there's streamers playing the game early, as has been said, it helps with advertising and all that, and that's a good thing. The real question is, WHY are so many streamers so BAD at playing games. I'm not even talking about just battletech. Every game, the majority of streamers are somewhere between "A bit slow" and "Incompetent". That makes me worry about what kind of players the game is being balanced around.

Wrong way around. Why are there no people good at games who stream, one should ask? Or maybe there are those, they're just not popular . . .

When I recently went on youtube to watch some esports, I somehow stumbled upon this guy streaming battletech (cronage or whatever he was called). So I guess this company is giving out games to streamers in order to show off the game? If so, why are they streaming the whole game, 3 weeks in advance? Normally I would only watch a stream for a game I do not intend to buy or play- call me old (I am 39) but why would anyone want to watch this guy if you intend to play this game yourself?

See this just come across as [Mod edit: Please be civil] ranting...a common theme I have noticed from the BattleTech community against Cohh. Free coverage of the game is good for your community, so I don't get all the [Mod edit: Please be civil] about Cohh streaming the game. While BattleTech has been on my peripheral vision for many years (38 years old btw), I have traditionally played Gamesworkshop tabletop, I was always aware of and appreciated BattleTech. His coverage of the game got me pumped for the game, and the universe in general, and even gave me an itch to checkout the state of the tabletop. Since I'm older and have a family now I have dropped tabletop games since they are so time consuming but when I saw this, from Cohh's stream, I was instantly excited by the game. That said, after seeing the reaction from so many of the BattleTech vets to new people to their community I'm a bit turned off. I don't get the elitist attitude that many of your community have toward new players. If that translates to the tabletop then I think I'll just pass tabletop and play the single-player game...after watching all of Cohh's playthrough....

Don't let the jellies get to you. I am with you. I spent alot of time when I was younger playing table top BT and loved it. Glad they are coming out with a new version for me to play. Being 53 I can't really play the clickfest games anymore. Why I a quite happy for this turn based strategy one. I hope we find each other on the battlefield.

I suspect this partly about numbers and partly about perception.

First, you want a streamer who: plays the game at all, is good at games, is likable and good at presenting, actually crazy enough to want to be a streamer in the first place, and lucky enough to have been discovered and developed a following. How often are all those things going to align?

But there's also the perception thing of we can sit back and critique every mistake they make. Most people make heaps of mistakes when playing, we just probably forget about them a minute later.

I make quite a bit of them, playing Monster Hunter. It's completely cringeworthy, from the standards of veterans. I'm ninety percent certain if I streamed this game everyone would get completely upset about my decisions :)

Sir, I most heartily disagree with what you have said :p

See this just come across as [Mod edit: Please be civil] ranting...a common theme I have noticed from the BattleTech community against Cohh. Free coverage of the game is good for your community, so I don't get all the [Mod edit: Please be civil] about Cohh streaming the game. If that translates to the tabletop then I think I'll just pass tabletop and play the single-player game...after watching all of Cohh's playthrough....

Please don't tar us all with the same brush. You'll find that a good proportion of people on this section of the forum are long standing fans of Battletech, and have played for many years, yet the vast majority of us have no problem with new players- hell, we know that the game relies on them to continue. :)
There is a very small but vocal minority that have voiced complaints about Cohh being given the game to stream, I admit. However, even then I would say for most of those the driving factor is simply jealousy that they have had to wait so long only for (as they see it) a random bloke on the Internet to be allowed early access. And no, I won't deny that some people truly do begrudge the new young players and some of the choices made to get them into the game, but these are an extremely small minority. Minuscule in fact, like the amount of respect I have them ;)
So please, don't write us all off :)
Oh, and welcome to the forum.
