Which video settings determine weapons fire quality?

I've played with the FX settings numerous times to get the game into a happy medium between looking good and performing.

It seems energy weapons and ballistics look pretty much the same when discharged; the differences being mostly environmental such laser light reflection off ground and ice.

Primarily I'm looking at what settings directly affect the appearance of missile salvos, and while I'm on the topic, what does the mesh setting change in this game?

it all depends on the engine, in most game motion blur seems to be too small of a change to appreciate at all. my crappy computer can run BT pretty well with all settings maxed, one exception being the trees, got trees turned off, it also helped performance to lower the resolution a bit, find the sweet spot.

Well, one thing I noticed in the past was more or denser smoke trails for missiles. And since sometime last year, they don't seem the same.

I was unsure if a game update eliminated that, because I've been unable to get a video setting where that's the case .

hmmm to think of it, the intensity of lights and effects from weapons and explosion seem to be dependent of the time of day, pretty much like in real life, lights look impressive a night, but very underwhelming during daylight...it does make me wish for a feature to chose whether I want to attack during daytime or nighttime.

With that thought in mind, a lot of random missions are also random on thier clock time.

Arano campaign missions are always specific on the time of day or night, and most if not all Flashpoint drops appear to be the same.

With the system ramdoms, I've had to reload some of those, and daylight or night hours seem to be totally random.

The opfor lances are random within certain tonnage limits set by the mission difficulty.

A lance slot for a 65-tonner can just as easily be a Jager or Tbolt...possibly but less likely to be a Catapult.

That can change with each reload of the mission.

Regarding the weapon FX, missile salvoes used to have thicker smoke trails.

I can't get that now, and it's left me wondering if that got changed in a patch.
