Since we're within a few years of MacOS no longer supporting 32 bit programs, I'm curious which Paradox titles will be affected.
Isn't there also cases where going 64 bit actually slows you down because of the extra overhead? All PDS titles using Clausewitz is atm 32bit, all Unity Engine titles i think is both 32 and 64?
Not sure why apple would do such a thing, it is not like the 32->64 has gained as much glory as 16->32 lol
And since you're here am I then not right that both Windows and Linux still can run 8 and 16 bit? In which case Apple's decision looks even stranger.
What I meant was whether 16 and 8 bit programmes were able to run on them.Linux was 32-bit from the start. Linux was designed on a 386 and used its 32-bit mode.
However there exists 16 bit and 8 bit implementations. 16-bit mostly for embedded systems
and 8-bit was more a proof of concept.

Can and can, sure they can but it will be multilib then... And yes, just compiling "32bit code to 64" and think your compiler would do something more than just increase your pointer size with 2 is IMO naive.Isn't there also cases where going 64 bit actually slows you down because of the extra overhead?

Yes, linux kernel is kinda new so we never had the problems with 16bit or 8bit... 16bit i can understand but a single char is just insane O;DLinux was 32-bit from the start. Linux was designed on a 386 and used its 32-bit mode.

Probably not atm OWhat I meant was whether 16 and 8 bit programmes were able to run on them.
BfAM O;DDD
Normally a Linux/UNIX runs at 64bit and has no 32bit com ability, dated from the 80s (UNIX it is) lolLinux-programs was 32-bit from the start. So there aint really any 8 or 16 bit programes.
Normally a Linux runs on 64-bit and has a 32-bit compatibilty libraries so it can run them too.
OT: ffs man you have to visit me _soon_ here in sthlm O;P might go for the marathon in NY, my father is running (42k should be 2.40h for him), so "bottomless" whatever in Manhattan (i buy if you fly your ass over)?BfAM
I'll meet you in NYC, sthlm will need more planning as gotta do it around the wee ones school scheduleOT: ffs man you have to visit me _soon_ here in sthlm O;P might go for the marathon in NY, my father is running (42k should be 2.40h for him), so "bottomless" whatever in Manhattan (i buy if you fly your ass over)?
