We got it promised already, there will be the communists weaving their red flags. A very nice idea, one should think.

But there was a problem with the anarchosocialists in Eu2.

You know, although I'm rather a marxist, I basically like the idea of anarchosocialism and so on, those trade unionists are usually more pleasant people than the finance minister or company boss kind of person, but in Europa Universalis...

After playing Ottoman Empire and facing 3-5 revolutions a year because of low stab, wrong religion, wrong culture and war exhaustion i began to understand why we killed them all back then in spain.. :D

To put it in a nutshell the question is: Will I have to try to bath my comrades in their own blood or can I win by going with them?

You can probably do things policy-wise that will make them happy (one of the screenshots had social policies showing), but doing so could aggrievate more conservative elements, so you'll have to balance it. Especially since they'll usually be a rather small faction.

EDIT: The Screenshot I mean:

Basically if you set all those to Good I'd wager the socialists would be pretty happy, but it would have political and economic consequences.

But what if I lack the will or the money? Will my country just degenerate and be a failed country forever (like the Timurids, revolts everywhere, no effective government) or will it actually become the world's first communist country?

Dzoser, I too am religious and somewhat... at odds with world marxism, but I think what the mods are trying to say is that this is a GAME board, and your reference to killing all the "communists of spain  " is something of an out of place comment, same for all the people who explicitly say how much they love communism. So why don't we all just have a sit down, drink some tea and get into some more speculation about how great a game this will be

:D

Hopefully, you can go somewhere in the middle (putting a few of those reforms through). Or, do it slowly to minimize the political costs (i.e. first establish the minimum in each, then inch it up. I think that'll be what most games will be like. If you try to change too much too quickly without support of the populace, I'd expect conservative/reactionary elements would get awful unhappy awful fast and pull a coup and undo your reforms.

I hope revolutions/dissent isn't modelled like in EUII with rebels just popping up everywhere and all the time. Even in restless Poland, the number of serious upheavels in the timeframe was limited, 3 in all IIRC (1860s, 1905, 1917), two of them being "all-Russian" uprisings. It would be quite unrealistic if you have to constantly send your armies up and down the Volga to kill rebels. Instead, upheavels should be less frequent, but, if you mess up, be a real problem. In short, less, but bigger.

If you lack the will to change the nation it probably won't change.

I tihink the question was if I can get to play a communistic coutry by sufficently p***ing off the poor workers and causing rebellions. Can they start a revolution and if they can could I then play the new `worker's paradise´ ?

I'm not a good man :D
Anyone knowes if as playing as Spain or Austria or another state will I be able to persecute some political movements as nationalism or communism (I hate them both ;) ) or their influence will only depend on my social politics? Most of states in this period persecute many movements (especially Russia and Austria), and I think that it would be wrong if this option wouldn't involved. I hope this post remain  ;)
