Which resolution do you prefer?

I'm curious which resolution you all prefer. I like the look of the game on 2560x1600, but the text is a bit small. I like the text at 1280x800, but the game doesn't look as spiffy. Just curious what others do.

I hope this forum is appropriate for this question. I thought about posting it in the Tech section, but that seems to be devoted to people having trouble running the game. I'm not having any trouble -- just curious which resolutions people prefer to play at.

I think most prefer to play at what their monitor was built for, frankly.
1680x1050 in my case.

2560x1600 is nice but the interface is too small, as you said. I also find it too small at 1920x1200 so I run at 1680x1050 where it is just right for my eyes.

My poor eyes can only handle the game at 1280X768

I wish more games had a selection for customization of font size. Distant Worlds was unplayable for me for that exact reason

It feels comfortable and right to me. That's what I play most games at nowadays, provided that they are recent.

I suspect you'll get an awful lot of "my monitor's native resolution" here. For example, I run mine at 1600x900 - my laptop's native resolution. And I'm pretty happy with it.

I play at 3360x1920, it's also the max I can do, if I could play at a higher resolution, I probably would.

My monitor actually has two native resolutions, 2560x1600 and 1280x800. I've gone back and forth on which I like better. If there were just some way to increase font size, I'd stick with 2560x1600 hands down.

Kanzaki, are the fonts readable at 3360x1920?

I play at 1760x1000 windowed mode, because I run my PC in 1920x1080, so I get a near-fullscreen experience.

I play at 1366x768 on 23' monitor because the font is to small. Usually i play games at 1920x1080.

I don't have any problems reading the fonts, but I do have the resolution running on 3 monitors, if I ran that resolution on just a single 23" monitor, then it would probably be too small.

It all depends on the size and quality of your monitor.

I have a 26" Asus monitor and I run all my games in native 1920 x 1200, where cheeper one's only go 1920 x 1080.

For this game though, I had to go down to 1680 x 1050 to be able to read the text without problems.

But this game looks good even in lower resolutions, but remember to activate shadows and bloom effect.

1440 x 900. Still using an old CRT (but a nice FW900) and it's a nice compromise because 1680 is just slightly too small textwise for my eyes, but anything less would be disappointing to have to play at.

Those options do nothing for me; I change them to "yes" in settings.txt but the game just reverts them back to "no".

That is strange, they stay on in mine. But you can always make the file "read only". That way, the game can't change the settings.

I have also seen other posts mentioning this so I assumed no-one was using shadows or bloom! Do you mind saying what gfx hardware you are running, maybe it is a driver issue?
