Portugal is a very good minor at best whereas Venice actually comes a lot closer to a major and Denamrk or such.
I'd love to vote - had it not been for the fact that I've only tried one major so far I'd take Austria or Turkey for my next try.

Sweden and Turkey are second best, I give vote for sweden because it's my own country (in that time, now it's finland) and sweden need one finn to make sweden a real super power. Brandenburg is good becaus it give good challenge and it's turn later Prussia that was in most important role in establishing germany, and capital is in berlin when playing brandenburg.
Turkey is also good, because then it's a muslim country and it have many national provinces. England is worst of grand gampain major powers to play and mayby little bit poor because as it's in real life.

im having the most succesfull game ever..
as turkey i started to build up a force as large as possible..
i took loans and all the shit..
within 5 years i had a huge battleforce
in 1 massive war , georgia , 2 provinces of persia , moldavia , wallachia , hungary , venice and the knights where conquered
lots of peace after that year.. i fortified a lot of new one provinces and with the money gained i was able to pay all my made debts..
i started out a second large war
this time naples , papal states , parma , and tuscany where defeated.. i had one year of peace ( but i was in state of war with the mameluks and persia but kinda run out of troops in the east of my nation , i managed to annex them both.. , as a result of an alliance with astrakhan wich declared war at me shortly after i finally reached peace after the second huge war ( bit jealous m8 ?) bohemia , sachsen , brandenburg and poland-lituania declared war on me , i had lots of money but my army was decimated to only about 100.000 troops left wich still remained mostly in the newly gained territories in the east
the joined austria-bohemia-polish/lithuanian armies totally destroyed the few troops i had left in europe
and marched on till the line of naples, albania , dobruja , bulgaria
where i managed to deploy a reasonable army of 150.000 troops..
i was up against a huge force of almost 300.000 soldiers of the enemy alliance.. luckily almost half of them where located in the italian part of my empire where i did not had any troops yet
after a few huge battles i was succesfull over the alliance armies and in about 2 years of massive warfare had driven them back to the out provinces of my realm.
the enemy army in italy was about 50.000 troops this time ( most forces where pulled out to reinforce the armies in the balkans)
when i prepared an italian army of 80.000 troops ready.. i gave them one of my best generals at the time being and marched to war.
the result was devastating i had suffered only 13.000 casualities while my enemy had less then 18.000 troops left
the italian line quickly joined the balkanline , quickly advancing into the borders of my foes. austria resigned first , losing 3 of her best provinces , poland-lithuania short after after losing 1 province , bohemia and sachsen unfortunatly didnt accept any of my peace proposals and were both annexed.

I think it's clear that people now finally have seen the light, Sweden is the best nation in the world.
