As France, I shall be afraid of England, since they will control more than half of France, and they tends to ignore France. Only luck enables France to drive England out, that is King John's conflict with Barons. Otherwise, France will be a vassel.

The Normans landed in the area in 1017. As mercenaries to the Lombards, the Papacy or the German or Byzantine Emperor in the constant infightingt at the time hey took land as pay when their employers couldn't pay, and soon they became important players on their own. If you are interested in this, read "The Normans in Sicily" by John Julius Norwich. A very interesing and informative book on the subject, and a nice and lively read as well.
(You may find this book split in two as "The Normans in the South" and "The Kingdom in the Sun")

Well I'll definitly play Siena at some point, so Florence, the Papacy and the plague, probably in that order.
I plan to play as Byzantine so all i have fear are muslims, my so called Christion allies, my own vassels. Hmm on second thought I'll play as the HRE, ya the HRE sounds right.
I'll just fear my own sword.... I always cut myself with the bread knife in RL.
