HRE most likely for most people but hopefully they will crumble just like in real life.
As the HRE, The false popes who pretend to have the right to wield temporal power and will stop at no wickedness in pursuit of their goals. I aim to put them back where they were under Henry III...
As HRE, I will fear nothing until Mongols, and also, popes who reside in Avoigion. As Byzantine, For me, it would be Turks, Mongols, and Normans of Sicily. For France, it would be England and HRE.
The biggest fear would be the Mongols. Who knows if they are gonna have a leader die so they turn around and go home?

LOL, "mongoled" sounds good. I too think that they will be quite a fearsome enemy. Especially if their pillage tours are chosen randomly. Everybody could be next.
Well, if my assumption is right, there will be nothing random about the mongol raids. What I meant was that Paradox could be using them much the same way as BB-wars brakes out in EU2

bah this is 1066, all the big boys are out in the east. Scotland is barely 100 years old, England even younger, and both weak as heck. France is a mess, and the Vikings still rule most of northern Europe, but have become divisive and feud with each other more than anyone else.

Holy Roman Empire

The Byzantine Empire
The Seljuk Turks
The Moslem Dynasties (the Ayyubids, Cordoba, Fatimids, Ommayads etc...)
You likely play a 'little guy', a small feudal family in western europe, so your primary concern for most of the game will be to not get in between two of the big boys and end up a casualty of war.

The Byzantine Empire
The Seljuk Turks
The Moslem Dynasties (the Ayyubids, Cordoba, Fatimids, Ommayads etc...)

lol!, let us not forgot abouyt Byzantine Emperor's family, advisor, and the generals, they are responsible for down fall of the Empire more than the peopel after all.
Well, I'll most likely end up playing as the Scots or the Irish in my first game, so the only people I need fear are the damanble English and other Celts(As one author once stated "The Celts couldn't organize an orgy at a whore house" Besides, they where always more happy beating up one another than the main enemy)
